I don't know.

Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with FFVI, but hearing the sung opera scene there, and comparing it to the original, I don't really have much of an issue with it now having vocals.
It's beyond what you grew up with, like, it's just a bad singer. It sounds like they got whomever wanted to do it that was in the office that day.

They could have just gotten the girl who sang the Smash Bros. opening. I think she's just some Nintendo fangirl that happened to be a decent singer. That would have worked, and she'd be thrilled. Hell, she did a great job considering the lyrics she had to work with:

So is the FFVI remaster worth pirating at least or are we better off with emulation and CRT filters?

I played most of III PR with the CRT filter. This is the first time I used the filter and it actually improves the visuals.

PR has very monotone colors compared to other remakes and for me at least the filter adds a little bit of more detail in the graphics, or at least an illusion of detail.

Welp Square enix made a spiritual successor to final fantasy tactics and turned the next Valkyrie Profile game into Nier.

Can't say I'm disappointed.
Is there any particular reason they seem to be hesitant about making a new Final Fantasy Tactics? Are they concerned about putting the Final Fantasy branding on a console game that’s not a graphical powerhouse?

I mean maybe, they're doing the same shit with Dragon Quest 10 and either canceled or postponed the international release and made it a region exclusive because they're apparently afraid that it would turn people off to 12.

They did a shitty mobile game, Final Fantasy Tactics S, which was shut down long ago for not being successful enough. It had some new jobs, some of which I would like to see more info on, like Vampire (Gria job), Dragon Miko (Gria job that has dances and can "reverse" summon Ifrit for physical damage), Onion Knight (Hume and Viera job), Outlaw (Viera job that uses guns), Mini Fighter (dwarf Bangaa), Mail Knight (Moogle job), Musician (Moogle job, not the same as Bard although I fail to see the difference), Druid (Bangaa job), Destroyer (Seeq job with massive hand cannons), Piscodemon (Nu Mou job). There were also some returning jobs that were previously either unique characters or hadn't been seen in a while: Onmyoushi (aka Oracle or Augur from FFT, Nu Mou job), Judgemaster (Hume job), Sky Pirate (Hume job), Air Samurai (Gria job, was an Aegyl job in Revenant Wings), and Dancer as a Viera job. Anyway I'm pretty sure that it failed because the gameplay was super dumbed-down with 3x3 grids of units on either side with each only having 2 abilities/attacks and no movement, and then of course it was cellphone F2P gacha garbage on top of that. But unfortunately it seems to have killed the series. I'd love to be wrong but I have no hope at this point. The next Ivalice game will have to come from the fans.

For the most part, those jobs sound great. Viera gunslingers would be terrifying, more mage jobs for Bangaa make me happy that they're not stuffed into the beatface niche, Seeq with cannons makes a distressing amount of sense as apparently the race is based off of more negative American stereotypes and if you're going to go that far then yeehaw it is, pardner.
I'm asking this rhetorically, mind you, but how did they manage to fuck up a Tactics game that bad?!

Explain please.

Was 10 Offline even slated for an international release? Nothing was said about such a plan when it was announced. And 12 is probably years away. Any cancellation of an international release of 10 Offline probably has more to do with the series having shit sales anywhere but Japan.

Didn't really pay attention to Strangers in Paradise so playing the demo tonight was my first impression. Now I played a lot of Nioh 1 and 2 and in all those hours I never thought "this should become a Final Fantasy game," but after playing it...i'm still not sure. As someone who loved those games Nioh's levels, especially the first games, can be pretty bland and these felt a step below that. I guess the combo of Nioh and Final Fantasy just didn't click for me as smoothly as something like Persona Strikers.

Did play on a base PS4 not sure if there are any differences between that and next gen so figured i'd mention it.

Jfc I downloaded the Chocobo GP demo with little knowledge of it beyond the original game.

Get this weird update screen, thinking maybe squeenix is updating the actual game just in a unique way.

Get to main menu finally and microtransations and other free to play bullshit like gems and Gil pop up. The games a god damn mobile game.

I guess even paying for the full price version doesn't fix this and the game revolves around it.

Probably has been done before in other games on systems, but first time seeing this and it honestly made me depressed.
