The Final Fantasy Thread

Had the exact same experience, wasnt digging it at first but im finding myself coming back to it, legit enjoy it now, probably gonna get the full game at some point

Cant believe the whole "Bullshit" and Limp Biskuit meme was real lmao, if this super edgy stuff keeps up Jack might become my favorite modern FF protagonist besides Noctis
Jack just keeps getting better and better the more I go though the game.

I have not finished it, but I legit think Nomura is really going to surprise some people. He's been pigeonholed into KH shit for far too long.

Cant wait to see how they improve over "FUCK YOU IM BRUTALLY MURDERING ICONIC ENEMIES I FUCKING LOVE STOMPING ON GOBLINS HEADS AND TEARING CACTUARS APART"

Is FFX good? It and X2 are on sale right now on Steam. I nearly bought it this morning but then I remembered I have about 4 other jrpgs that are unplayed and about 3 in varying states of early play. I may get it anyway, but I need a little outside inspiration.
I'm biased because FFX is my absolute favorite, but yes, very. X-2 is pretty different and tends to be a game that people either love or hate.

I get why people don't like X-2, but I enjoyed it because it just feels more laid back and light hearted than most games. Sometimes you need a bit of stupidity rather than Spiky Hair Edgy Boi Protagonist #364 moping about his destiny. Although if you're someone who likes to 100% everything, X has a major end game grind and X-2 will need you to follow a guide very closely.

X is passable if you turn off the sound so you don't have to hear the shitty voice acting.

X-2 is unironically a good game, at least gameplay wise..both Stories are fucking awful though.

Best harem protag of FF.

I started playing 12 a few months ago, cuz that one is supposedly written by the Tactics Ogre guy and that's probably my favorite storyline in a jrpg type game ever, but I couldn't get into it, at least not right away though I think I'm less than 2 hours in. I know sometimes these games take a little while before they get going, but all I'm seeing so far is a weird, shirtless kid protagonist, weird monster things living in cities right next to normal people, and an intro that I don't really know what it had to do with anything I'm doing right now (hunting monster bounties?) with the shirtless kid. I haven't picked it up again in months and I'm really feeling no incentive to do so now. These games just don't hook you like they used to.

I played the original release of 12 a few years back and was not impressed. I want to try the "Zodiac" release that has actual classes, but I highly doubt it will change my opinion. The battle system is just awful and boring.

Aww man. I kinda wanted to get those too. They're shit?
The First one..is okay but has some issues late game with balance and story
Bravely Second is a vast improvement and probably the best of the 3 games
Bravely Default 2 is fucking shit whose entire difficulty comes from the fact that every boss in the second half of the game gets unavoidable Counter attacks that give them extra turns.

The series as a whole would unironically be better without the whole "Brave/Default" shit.

Played a few hours of the new FF CHOAS and, I'll be honest, I really fucking love it. It's basically a reskinned Nioh combined with Code Vein - leading your gank squad (at least until the game will decide to not let you use it) and having very anime fights.

The plot itself is a good bad movie quality, where the game takes itself overly seriously and I'm just waiting for someone to say CHAOS.

But fuck Tonberry's.

Yet Jack is surprisingly tame with the little shits. Aight, I'll just turn you into crystal, just sit there.

I had one time that he picked it up and crystalize without slamming it, but I still love the default pat

The loading screens for Stranger are really something else.

They seem to be hinting that
All the game verses have been manipulated or studied in some way by a mysterious race of beings called Lufenians

I'm not able to play it myself so I just read spoilers. Is Nomura okay? The twist is way too coherent for someone like him.

For me, I felt the true ending kind of cheapened the tragic angle of the first. I saw it as a sign that Square won't write actual tragedies anymore after that.

I would love it if Matsuno would return to his roots and make another game like TO or FFT. That said, one thing I liked about 12 was that the villain isn't trying to take over or destroy the world.

They're fine if you try to view them as early era RPGs. I think they mostly suffer from pacing problems.
