The Final Fantasy Thread

Ive been playing a bit of FF7 The First Solider after getting a new phone.

Im having a good time, but it's fucking ridiculous how OP you are if you plug a controller in with blue tooth. . Won an entire match with a barely a scratch
by finding an M60 and just wasting everything in 5 seconds.

Graphics, songs and sound look fantastic for a phone game. The big issue is really a lack of any kind of lore or plot besides the opening. Although I love all the interesting new designs, even if some of them are merch based as shit.

Whatever.

FFVIII had fantastic summons too for the time, they were visually very impressive and well designed. So, if taking an "at the time" perspective into account, an argument could be made for FFVIII having the best ones. I wouldn't make the argument but I could see it.
I think where it broke down here is that it was easy to just summon GFs at any time and a lot of the later ones (hi Eden) are super long. Burned people out.

If they made them stronger and made them not on-demand (like maybe you had to fill up a GF gauge by using magic?) then they would have been received a lot better. Shiva in particular in FFVIII is amazing.

FF8: we all grew up together but you all forgot but I didn't forget but I never brought it up because it didn't seem important even though our primary enemy was our mentor and caretaker and also one of the primary benefactors of our school/para-military organization and also I am a master sniper but I piss my pants every time I have to take the shot.

Nojima said he wanted it to be like the opposite of 7, which was very fast-paced. And that synopsis certainly would qualify: things don't happen, or don't happen without pulling teeth

I do appreciate that VIII or pretty much any other FF game is devoid of puzzles and minigames in the main story. God that one aspect is why FF7 ain't my favorite FF

I always thought it had more to do with him not being able to shoot Edea because he remembers who she is and he was just making shit up as to why he couldnt.

Then tiem compreshuns.

FF8 had minigames, but they weren't "mandatory". To make up for that though FF8 had some of the worst of Squares' esoteric hidden item bullshit of the FF series. And then there's the chocobo minigame for the pocket station.
