4 did have the after years which came out later and 7 had advent children if that counts.

I haven't played it, but isn't Stranger of Paradise a prequel to FF1? FFV had some kind of anime thing too, I believe. There may be some other, more obscure or Japan-only stuff I'm not aware of.

The question is, how long will FFXIV remain a cash cow the more they destroy it?

I know they lost me. And I may just be one person, but how many more won’t sub again due to the recent bullshit?

I've never played FF14, and I don't keep up on the game, what bullshit? I remember hearing some extremely based backlash against a tranny hired for a role of a female character (and unfortunately the director came out in defense of the western tranny faggot), but that's basically the only thing that comes to mind.

Basically yes. It is Garlands and by extension the worlds backstory.

I do believe the Japs wrote in the vague possibility that it may be an alt verse in the dlc but I think that's mainly just there in case anybody doesn't like the implications of the main storyline leading up to the original FF1.

It’s more so like Drakengard and Nier where the timeline of stranger of paradise crosses over into the timeline of FF1.

So yes, it’s pretty much a prequel.

I hated Final Fantasy XVI. In fact, can all of the Final Fantasy team at Square just quit and mutiny, so they can stop making shitty soliloquies about Sakaguchi going away so they can make games that aren't whining about that? Magic going away is also a pretty shitty fantasy story archetype.

I don't blame you. It's not FF. It's a game that got the title to sell PS5s. It's really shameful this was the game they decided to lead with instead of rebirth. That was a legit return to form.

Lol but in all seriousness as someone who beat it, I think its the best FF I've played in years. Just the sheer scope and actual imagination in properly fleshing out the world of 7 combined with the wide variety of events and places. Its the first FF title that actually feels deserving of its budget and reputation as Next-gen.

Some of the mini games were shit but that's about my only complaint.

sephiroth broke reality by attempting time travel and the planet split itself apart as a defense mechanism. At best im guessing there might be one other world left standing when everything is said and done but it's made clear it's not natural.

Completely missed that in my playthrough. Either it's a sidequest I skipped or some bit of random gay ambiance. I'm not gonna give 7 too much jazz for this considering they cut out the scene where cloud gets dogpiled in the honey bee inn.
