I finally finished VII last month and I've been playing through VIII. I love both of them so far, but all I can think about is how they're most likely going to take the gold saucer and microtransation the shit out of it for the remake. I played IV on the DS years back but never finished it, might have to give it another go when I have more free time.

Well this is interesting, the whole event with Yoko Taro happened and Square Enix was very aware about how the western world was displeased with the initial reveal. They seem to want to build up good relations with the western fanbase and want to build back up the franchise in terms of quality.

They made a Joke about getting more info in the year 2035.

What was the Yoko Taro event? I haven't heard of that and I don't want final fantasy's suck to infect taro's work D:

He does? I guess she was legal in Japan...
Apparently not, it's even worse in Japanese: https://legendsoflocalization.com/w...ut-relm-in-each-final-fantasy-vi-translation/

The final boss of Bravely Default is the final boss of final bosses of the games I've played. I don't think any other series has a literal world-eating eldritch horror as the final boss, or entire worlds being destroyed in the last battle. Music's OK too.

To be honest, I kind of wish we had gotten an VIII remake instead of a VII remake. It needed tweaking a lot more than VII did and the direction they're going with the VII remake doesn't seem particularly appealing.

That's nomura for you.
He's somehow making VII fit in with KH, did nobody notice the Noctis look-a-like named Leslie?

Man has a fucking grudge after what happened to Versus XIII.

Despite my problems with the game, the final boss of that game is pretty dope. It was able to incorporate both the game's internet features and the 3DS's camera in a way that really fits with the story. I can imagine a bunch of friends keeping tabs on each other as they each played through the game for the first time and then sharing their experience of watching each other's world get blown up. Plus, you get to see what classes their respective parties were using during the cutscenes in between the different phases of the fight.

Also the final boss's name is pretty appropriate considering the nature of the game's story over the past several hours.

I dunno man, Kitase said in an interview that he might incorporate the infamous Squall's Dead theory if they ever decide to remake VIII. So expect more shenanigans if they do go down that road.

I think when the final boss describes the Celestial Realm (神界 - Shinkai - Divine Realm), it was meant to be subtle social commentary on Japan IRL.

Also that thing in the final battle with the camera activating can be creepy and/or funny.

the only way they could do that is if they incorporate multiple timelines or universes or dimensions to deal with the worthless ramifications.

ya know, exactly what they're doing in ff7R.

so yeah, that's probably exactly what they'd do.

Gonna make a bold prediction: they kill Tifa instead.
My rationale is simply that killing Aeris accomplishes very little because everybody expects it so nobody is very attached to her. And they're really blowing through Tifa's character development in Part One. While in the OG she had no real character development in Midgar. And little things like the dozen or so scenes where Cloud has to help or save Tifa would really take the bite out of the revelation that he saved her 5 years ago in Nibelheim. Just feels like they're blowing their load; which makes sense if they're short on time for her.

Wrong on so many levels, they intentionally made her personality more eccentric and spontaneous so people would like her. You're with her the whole segment getting back from the church on the rooftops, you're with her through the tunnel, the whole cross dressing quest you're with her, and at the end when you get to her apartment she stayed at and see the mural she drew.

Tifa's segments with Cloud are at the beginning with the tutorial, running up to the plate with avalanche, and breaking into Shina headquarters.

There's more one on one moments with Aeris than Tifa.

I'm not saying they did nothing with Aeris it just feels more slow burn. And also it's not how the fanbase reacted imo. And how they think fans will take things was a big factor in this Remake and also how they killed Aeris to begin with.
I know this is a hail mary don't get me wrong but just contrasting the treatment in the OG to now: almost no personal scenes with Tifa in the OG because she's not yet important to anything, Cloud doesn't have to warm up to Aeris in the OG he's pretty much down to show off for this cute girl right away.
And all of these things have alternative explanations of course (it's more "realistic" for Cloud to have to get to know someone new) but I like to take a big swing.

Dead Space 3 ends with you also fighting a world-eating eldritch horror as the final boss with it destroying the moon you are on. The last shot of the franchise is seeing other ones arriving at Earth. I'm sure it was probably cooler in Bravely Default though.

People shutting out Aerith to not get attached seems extra silly to me in this version. Its not like her death is right around the corner and leveling her up is going to be useless. You're going to be stuck with her for 100 plus hours in game and years in real time at this rate.

The way people interact with FF and Square Enix games is awfully weird.

I haven't played any of the numbered games ("Final Fantasy #") after 6, so I don't know much about her, other than a spoiler.

In Bravely Default, Ouroboros says the Celestial Realm is technologically advanced, free from strife, and a "boring prison" - that they want to "spice up" with evil.
