I think the issue only lies with the Switch port. I was playing through it on the Switch and when I switched over to the PC port, it was much faster. It's a shame I had already put so much time into the Switch port and save transfers don't exist :(
That's pretty unfortunate cause aside from loading, I'd say that the Steam version of IX also has the advantage that you can apply the Moguri mod to it which has HD textures among other enhancements.

Update on the save transfers between PC and Switch, they do exist!

I already did, and it works! It even gives you all of the achievements you would've had up to that point.
I have some questions. Does your switch need to be modded to do this? And can you move a FFIX pc save file back to the switch with this?

I believe your switch does have to be modded in order the dump the save files via Checkpoint and you can move PC save files to the Switch port.

Rewatched Advent Children for the first time since it was launched, and to be fair it is more enjoyable than I remember, even if it is basically an excuse to get Cloud and Sephiroth to fight again. Something that has always bugged me about the story though, why do they forgive the Turks so quickly? They were the ones who dropped the Sector 7 plate and likely killed thousands of people doing so. Would make more sense in the narrative if it had been Scarlett or Heidegger that pushed the button.

They were popular characters is why. I can't reliably say this, because I am just working off of memory, but the ff7 franchise is so bad after the first game because the creative leads really do care way too much about the fanbase's headcanons and favorites.
Do you really think Vincent got his own game because the story just had to be told?
I remember fans, before advent children was out, reimagining Sephiroth as Cloud's stalker. Then, miraculously, that's basically what he became.

Even just focussing on the original, they'll still escape even if you choose to fight them towards the end of the game and the whole thing is chalked off to business being business. That's the downside of any expanded universe though, everyone develops their own ideas of how each character's story should continue, so can be disappointed when the official version ends up being something different.

Welp that's a big fat F on the Yuffie episode being PS5 exclusive. Disappointed but not surprised. At this rate I doubt I'll ever finish the remake in its entirety.

Ever Crisis seems pretty neat, don't care about the battle royale one.

The only good part of Ever Crisis is that Before Crisis is translated officially and that advent children MIGHT be more bearable as a video game
As for intergrade, glad they made a turn based mode but I'll wait for the PC port in a year just like what happened to 15 on steam. I'm just surprised to see how much blood they keep squeezing from FF7's mutilated corpse. Fuck, the 13 trilogy and everything associated with it (especially 15) was just the spirits within 2 for operating costs wasn't it?

I was excited until they mentioned the actual FF7 Remake was episodic and mobile. Square's just gonna make everything episodic, aren't they? God forbid you release a complete narrative, people might not know what to do with themselves if they aren't left on a cliffhanger.

Making the Yuffie DLC exclusive to the PS5 is a dick move, but expected because Sony really wants to push the new generation. Most, if not all, of the current slate of big games are duel generation and are getting PS4 releases.

Sony has to be worried that the massive scalping and unavailability is going to keep people on last gen instead of upgrading.

Wth...how do these people not figure that they're taking things way too far with all this? It was bad enough that they "remade" the original game into multiple parts. Now they want to re-remake a prequel, produce some mobile game spinoff, and make a DLC exclusive which, I imagine, because it is both a DLC and exclusive will pretty much not be integral whatsoever to any mainline story. And all of this before any real news of the next part.

They're giving Final Fantasy 7 Remake away for free this March for PS+

Now people are bitching about this not giving you the free upgrade, the upgrade has it's own cost if you're going to be using the free PS+ version. That still makes it cheaper than buying the game itself.
