Turns out I was able to make it to the game yesterday. Spent the entire night after class with my family, and it was really nice. Found out my mom's friend took her and another friend to a few gay bars in Austin and she found out they're nothing like my aunt and uncle make them out to be. My uncle, a gay man, says that they're the most fantastic places on Earth where gay guys can meet up, dance, have a good time in general, etc., and my straight aunt says that they're crazy enough to be enjoyable but not crazy enough to drive a straight guy out of there. When my mom went, they had some guy in drag singing on top of the bar and a midget dancing in front of him. During the act, he got some liquor, poured it in his mouth, and spat it into the midget's mouth. Then they lined up some guys who had just turned 21, sang happy birthday to them, stripped them down to their underwear, and filmed the whole thing while streaming it to a paysite. In the meantime, my mom's friend was posing every now and then, hoping to find someone to hook up with. So yeah, I hate to say it, but I'm pretty glad I live in a more socially conservative part of Texas. We don't outright think the lifestyle is wrong at all, but nobody likes to see people act that crazy. We expect gay people to find a nice, decent same sex partner and have dinner with the family on dates and pretty much act like traditional couples. Even then, it's not like we have strip clubs or sex shops around here. People just really seem to generally dig decency around here...
...but yeah, I'm glad I got to go and see my sisters preform. I just hope one of my partners in my group project sent that email that I told them I wouldn't be able to send (I'm seriously the only one in the group that goes to class regularly). Can't wait to go back to class and discuss the group's lecture topic, considering I'll probably be the only one there. We're on Jeffersonian democracy, and I've been comprehending the material better than I thought I'd be.
