The General Thread

I came across this majestic creature in my travels recently.
My current theory is a transporter accident involving Slash from Guns'n'Roses, Carrot Top and a warehouse full of Crisco(tm)

I finally caved and bought a Pokemon game for my 2DS, Moon to be exact. I haven't really played since Gen 2 outside of a bout of PokeMMO a couple years back. I'm not sure why I got it exactly, and I kinda feel childish playing it. I guess it's just I'm just looking for a quick break from my life. Just a simple RPG to unwind with before bed after a long day's work, without having to play through extensive cutscenes.

But for some strange reason, I'm still happy every time I successfully capture a Pokemon. And I got to start with an owl pokemon. I freaking love owls.

The Kmart in the town I grew up in closed down recently. It was kind of sad because we spent so much time there growing up.

It got me thinking. I used to belong to a big community of people on Flickr who enjoyed taking pictures of abandoned retail buildings. The photographers made them look like giant pieces of art. Now the communities are full of :autism:. It's all like this video:

I used to (and still do sometimes) do Urbex / Urban Spelunking / Urban Exploration / Whatever and can confirm, it's gone from a community of interested people who enjoyed the challenge and experience of getting into abandoned places with no nefarious intention to a bunch of 3edgy5u infants climbing active tower cranes, giving security guards the runaround and generally acting like cunts. Either that or they try and make every video an episode of Ghosthunters or some shit. Naturally this means that everyone now knows where these places are so they're vandalised to hell and get boarded up securely making the entire exercise a pointless one for actual enthusiasts.

I love you. We are soulmates.

I've got one solitary story about a group of them. I was at an abandoned RAF base that will remain nameless (it's awesome though to PM me if interested) and myself and my companion caught another group all dolled up in the brightest most conspicuous clothing imaginable hauling around a metric arseton of finest Chinesium camera gear SMASHING A GOD DAMN WINDOW to get a better shot. They asked us how to get into the control tower but when we showed them they opted to try forcing the door because our access point through a small window in the plant room was quote "a fucking hassle". We only showed them our access point so they wouldn't force the door. I haven't been back there since this incident but if I do I wouldn't be surprised if that tower, which is stunning btw and FULL of original features, is steel shuttered and impenetrable.

Sometimes what starts out like an interesting idea or concept can turn into full-blown :autism: in no time, it seems. Just checking out the vid, I would think if you couldn't provide a good enough light source to work with, don't even bother.

I'm only glad my Kmart is still open at all, or someone would probably be do this same thing here.

Certainly makes it difficult to re-sell the property at all unless they did that. That's the problem with abandoned areas, really. Their either forgotten or simply 'swept under the rug' by those hoping to find something to do with them one day, even if it never comes up again.

One bad apple has to spoil it for the bunch.

> tfw you need to shoehorn more journals into your essay to get marks

Secondary literature always weirds me out it's like you can do loads of research and read a bunch of stuff and cite/quote it and have it be really obvious that said literature has helped you form your own argument that you express within your essay and yet a lot of people won't consider your use of secondary literature good enough unless you take 2 different arguments that other people have made and have them fight to the death in the academic thunderdome because THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE. If you think about it academia is basically like autistic gladiator battles, but like, for weedy nerds who have scholarly journals as their weapons instead of swords and stuff...

Here's a lovely picture of methface woman I unwittingly took years before I moved to this shithole neighborhood and watched her and her pedostache, also methfaced and inbred son terrorize my zip-code. She (I assumed their gender from the rancid cooch vapors emanating from her swimsuit area) is on the left.
You'd think living in Chicago would be awesome, but no. Most days you're avoiding the legion of mentally ill ugly fucks who seem to be sharing the joy of their fucktardism with the world. Where's the babes? Where's the celebrities? No, it's just mutants, dull immigrants and mentally ill sjws looking to pick an argument over whatever flavor of the month made up bullshit is.
Methface woman and her son are out after dark alot just kinda standing around wistfully looking at the McDonalds nearby lately. Methface son seems to be shellacing his hair not entirely unlike Crispin Glover in the 1980s. Maybe more like a methed out Gomez Addams. Imma take some video soon.

I ocassionally like that Chris Hardwick steals joke from the internet Comedy Central show.
The first few minutes of the Star Wars special was such hardcore virtue signaling I wanted to puke.
"People reeeeeed about the bixnoof Stormtrooper we thought it wuz awwwsum reeeeeeeee I'm an ally!"

Personally I just was pissed that the movie was just a rehash reunion special. Finn wasn't ghetto or anything so he was just another character to me. If he was a shuckin' jiving spacenigga(tm) I would've bitched. Keep modern American style culture outta my Star Wars.

Now that I think about it, that Dan Bell really brought urbex to the :autism: . Isn't he a little bit of a sperg or called his fans spergs or something?

//edit//

I found the ultimate in retail history spergin on Flickr tonight. Guy took those big round exhaust fan grills old Kmarts have and he put it in his sad house:
