This is going to sound incredibly lame, but there's something I want to talk about that's just making me feel uncomfortable.
After giving up on the main game after playing for over 2 years about 3 years ago, I started playing on a private Maplestory server (this is the incredibly lame part) out of sheer boredom. It's a pre-Big Bang patch server (Big Bang was a patch that RUINED the game FOREVER). The players are kind and friendly, and the older game is nostalgic and enjoyable.
However, the GMs are absolutely ruthless. There was a glitch recently which mistakenly gave a couple of people donator status when they hadn't donated. Out of curiosity/confusion, they activated said status (they're probably kids, what do you expect). Instead of the GMs removing the status, apologising for letting this glitch slip through, and maybe telling the players off for activating it, they permanently banned those players with no chance of it ever being lifted.
They have a zero tolerance policy on anything. You get reported, you're off the rankings and those infraction points will never go away. Ever. It only takes a few points to get banned.
And you can't criticise their methods, because you'll be accused of being abusive and (you guessed it) banned.
It's like giving a 13 year old animu artist on deviantArt banning privileges and it's ruining the game for me. I already had the (already shit, maple was never good) main game ruined.
