I heard you can get out of jury duty by purposely failing out of the selection process the day you show up. Before they approve you for the jury, they tell you the background of the case and ask you if there is anything about your personal beliefs or dispensation that will bias you against the plaintiff or defendant, and all you have to do to get out is say you're racist against one of them, or something to that effect

Well, not going to go there since I'm not that low. Apparently if it's a half-day I get $10, if a full day, twice that. Just have to see how that turns out, but I really don't want to simply lie to get out of it.

One of the highlights of my day was this chipmunk. It was eating a french fry taller than it, so it was all kinds of adorable as it began whittling it down so it could finally store the rest in it's cheeks. Like, it just kept spinning the fry as it was eating it.

had a job interview today. It went well, and they mentioned before the interview that they liked my resume, so my fingers are crossed.
 
The local high school is having their prom party down the road from me. So far only 1 ambulance has gone by in the past few hours since it started

Something always happens at the prom. Reminded my high school prom took place at the university's student union building, with an after-party lock-out happening at the rec. center there, those were good times.

My prom was pretty uneventful when I think about it. I went to a friend's no-druggie/no-drunk afterparty, and I was fine with that.

Yeah. A high school in my region is dealing with the death of a couple students who were struck and killed by a train a couple of nights ago. A year after I graduated a guy who had just graduated himself died after he drowned when he was swimming by a nearby dam.

It's one of those things where you hear about it happening at other schools sometimes, but it's so hard to know what it's like until it happens to your school.

Some old non relatives of mine (related by marriage) came to my house so now everywhere reeks of old person smell except for my room because I used a ton of air freshener

Well, the day has come that I have fear. My old dog is very sick and we have decide to put her down this week. I love this dog. She has been with me since 2005 and has always been with me in good times and bad times.

I went to an anime convention that wasn't in New York for the first time this past weekend. I got to be away from my parents, possibly may have gotten a little further in flirting with a close friend of mine(i'm almost sure this went the other way too even if we didn't do it on purpose), and had a lot of fun taking my first road trip on my own.

I'm only bummed we couldn't get some alcohol to celebrate.
