The General Thread

I'm watching Logan right now, after hearing Wisecrack refer to it as a Western. I've never really liked Wolverine (though I do admit there is a coolness to him), and I've been turned off of past X-Men movies since I feel some of them pander to his fanbase. But for some strange reason I love modern Western films, minus that bullshit Magnificent Seven remake. Heck, I find there's something comforting about the structure of the genre and the whole "riding off into the sunset" thing. Hell, Seven Samurai has one of the most beautiful endings ever in my opinion and it feels like a Western in many ways (which makes sense considering how it was adapted properly the first time).

Then there's Gundam IBO and it's take on the Western, at least according to what Wisecrack was talking about with what makes a Western a Western. I may go into that some other time.

Also, man. Again not an X-men fan but it is sad as fuck what they've done to Xavier even if I've never really trusted him. Something about how he used mind control didn't rub me the right way. But man is this a great movie. I have the original trilogy on hand if I ever need to entertain kids, but I'm going to buy a copy of this film sometime. May even buy the Bluray to get the black and white version, since I'm a sucker for that shit.

For a movie in a superhero Universe it wasn't terribly flashy. I appreciate dialogue and emotional beats. Logan was exhausted from dealing with Chuck being sick but he soldiered on and mellowed out.

Just got back from spending a month out of town with some close friends and family, even went fishing a couple of times. Had a good time overall.

Stopped by the new Domino's Pizza that my area got just this month (the first one since the early 90's), I was impressed they had a dine-in section with tables and booths. I've never see that before in what always been a carry-out/delivery place, but glad they give me a reason to stick around while I'm out and about!

I finally saw somebody around my college campus that wasn't at least 60 pounds overweight and wasn't wearing tights so tight you know exactly what their labia looks like.
I might've been dreaming, though.

Since the latest Google Doodle honors Oskar Fischinger's birthday, I'm reminded of one of his fine works, fans of Pee-Wee's Playhouse may recall seeing this used in an episode with Pee-Wee waking out of bed!

My favorite piece, though sadly this place doesn't let you embed vk videos so here you go.

He as no stranger to advertising either!

I'm staying the fuck away from the general splash damage area of tomorrow's Pride Parade, even though anymore it's mostly nearly naked straight people. But too many people who should NOT be nude in public...ewww.

I watched this cringey video about "Feminist Father's Day" and of course it left me fuming. I'm glad I'm against [Third Wave] feminism.

Tried to use my Cintiq tonight. Got really aggravated figuring out why I wasn't getting the damn thing to work with my PC as a touch screen for god knows why. Then I tried to draw out a few things and just couldn't feel it (creatively), hard not to get the same feel I could with paper here. The enthusiasm I had for this is waning pretty large, I almost thought about selling it on eBay. I suppose I do really need some sort of crash course here on the matter. Just so I can get the hang out of using the pro pen, the shortcuts and whatever else.

I used a burner number to make a new Facebook....every single suggested "friend" was a black person, many of them aspiring rappers. That must be linked to the threatening bill collector calls for "Darryl" on the phone. Some lady kept sending me gospel quotes until I sent her a Goatse. Yes, I am a very disturbed person.

So, it's pretty awesome welfare people spend their whole "paychecks" on loud ass fireworks instead of, y'know..educating their kids better...or paying up their bills or fucking anything other than making the city sound like it's under heavy shelling for three days straight. Next retärd who sets off an m80 in my dumpster is going to get their ass kicked.

Someone's getting their fingers blown off sooner or later.
