But they act on nature. The cat is nursing the younger one because it's beneficial to the pack to some capacity. It's what I struggle personally with in terms of pets. They don't do tricks to humor you; they do it cus they want a treat. And even if you do it for 3 years and it still does it on command, it still wants a fucking treat. I feel bad making any animal do a trick just to pet it. Sure, if it's one of those dogs that go fucking bonkers for scratches, I can sort of reach that 'treat' level by accommodating it, but to think dogs and cats are genuinely capable of larger thought not bound in its survival seems unlikely to me. It'll probably change when I get a dog, since I won't have childhood experience and get to learn it all as a capable and thoughtful adult. It's so amazing how intricate non-human animals really are.
I think it depends entirely on the individual animal, not even the species. Some dogs seem to see things in terms of treat or no treat. I've owned dogs like that in the past (a Labrador retriever being the biggest offender.) However, certain dog breeds are smarter than others, and with those dogs it can be as difficult as interacting with a human sometimes. My current dog doesn't act simply on survival or treats. Regardless of if I have a treat in my hand (I really don't give her treats ever except for recall), she behaves in a way that often goes against her instincts as a way of either pleasing me or upsetting me, depending on mood. When you eventually get a dog as an adult, you'll have a different view of them, provided you get the right breed. But they act on nature. The most bizarre legal defence featured on Kiwi Farms is still Sick Nick's "I eat shit, therefore you must acquit ."
Wonder how them 40 years in the pen is working out for him.
What town do you live in? Sounds horrifying.Cats are like humans ... literally.
It's amazing and the marijuana really amplifies my perception of this.

Growing up I always thought they were so robotic, and when I would be riding through town and would see all the dead bodies on the streets I was completely apathetic towards their suffering.
Now all of that has changed.
I now feel for the animals.
With all that said, I have been observing my cats and trying to get the older cat to open up to the younger one and it is just such a fucking cool experience.
This + the ganja is far more interesting than any piece of shit garbage game that has been released since 2008.
