The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

Mothsisters keep winning.

I found the modern day setting characters to be boring and feel generic. But I did enjoy the characters set in the past, I feel if the show focused solely on them and their story the show would be better. Exploring the begging of Monarch and the search for kaiju without having this modern day crap with the family drama.
I gotta agree. The past stuff is so good that I stick with it just to see how Monarch starts and grows. I wouldn't even mind the family drama that much except for the diversity character they had to fit in there to hit all the checkboxes.

So far the most unrealistic part of the whole store is that there was a black, female super hacker that was living in japan.

You have a redditfrog pfp, how are you special? Godzilla fans are not even like fans of say Sonic, Star Wars or Jojo as Godzilla fans are more of a different bread

He's retarded. That's it
Bruh, and that's the reason why you get nothing that you want but still eat it up in the end.

Oh boy Minus One look- TWENTY FUCKING DOLLARS yeah nah fuck that I ain't paying twenty bucks a fucking ticket
Now when it gets to the cheap theater in a week, then I might take a day off work just to go all day, but fuck twenty bucks for a damn ticket

We're seeing it on December 2nd. Tickets have already been bought by friends, so I do't know the price. But if that's how much tickets are going for these days, I don't think I'll go to the theater again. I can buy the Blu-ray in a few months for the price of one ticket.

SO I got back from Minus One.
I have to say, without any exaggeration, this movie was the best Godzilla movie I've seen, and this is coming from a '54 fanboy.
The effects were honestly great, with very few shots looking hokey, but Japanese CGI is about 5 or so years behind so whatever. Godzilla was genuinely terrifying, maybe not looks wise, but just how he acted. He acted like a demon out to hurt as many people as possible, and the destruction he caused was honestly like something out of a post apocalyptic movie. Everyone in the film was amazing, with each character so well acted and written you honestly feared for all their lives throughout the film. FInally, the score was perfect. with some classic pieces thrown in alongside new ones that elevated the scenes.
It was just...perfect. And yeah, this might be recency bias, but I can honestly say that the wait for the movie was worth it.
10/10
The babe from Shin Kamen Rider was in the movie, as were a few of the live action rurouni kenshin actors. Literally, no one gave a bad performance.
I won't spoil the movie too much.

Cool, the consensus among early reviewers seems positive so I'm gettin' hyped to see it on Friday. Oh and yes tickets were pretty expensive I paid $30 for my pair.

Same, but I only see like 4-5 movies a year.
I saw this year Shin Kamen Rider, The Flash, Oppenheimer and now Godzilla Minus One. And its not because I'm cheap, its because 99% of movies are now shit.

I FORGOT TO GO SEE GODZILLA!
It's still playing in theatres as we speak
yeah this isn't those fathom shit-vision things where they put a suuuuuper compressed 500p video feed for one night, this is like, a regular movie because they were panicked about content with the Hollywood strikes

Shin Kamen Rider was a fathom event and whoever did the subs put them near the very bottom edge of the screen. Almost unreadable.
Thankfully the picture quality for Godzilla Minus One was good. As was the sound mixing which the theater I went to usually screws up.
One thing I will say that hampered the movie was the time. It was supposed to start at 5 but didn't start until nearly 6. Fucking bullshit.

sometimes there's also local theater being stupid and not understanding that they can't just crop the movie to fit the last movie's format when there's subs
but yeah the only time I even consider hitting a Fathom thing anymore is when it's still not even a cam online
