The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

On the way into work I passed the toku nerd I see occasionally. Usually he's at the bus stop and I'm in the bike lane so I don't get a chance to acknowledge him. Today I passed him at a crosswalk so I gave him a thumbs up and "dude! Cool Shin shirt, noice!"

It's not doubleposts, it's just a second monster that just happened to look identical to the first with no particular explanation

iirc the trick is they have to pay per monster per movie, the deal with Toho isn't like a buffet
I would assume Battra doesn't cost as much as, say, Mechagodzilla, but still, they have to handicap for "is this monster enough of a draw that it's worth paying to use"
Yeah, toho is the main reason why Legendary makes so many ocs, i wish they at least could arrenge some kind of "pack" deal to bring some classic monsters back, give me legendary a jet jaguar dammit

Toho gives a seal of approval when Legendary's OCs are made, the same when Toho only approved TriStar's Godzilla by renaming it as Zilla, thus copyrighting them as their own. I wish we had a modern Destroy All Monsters movie from Legendary's Monsterverse just to throw in Jet Jaguar and Zilla, as well as Pacific Rim monsters (if del Toro agrees, that is)

Only live-action western remakes of Speed Racer and Alita are the only good ones
Guyver 2 was pretty great, but that wasn't remaking an existing movie,
And I forget but I think that was one of Sakamoto's early gigs?

Okay, but Legendary’s modern real-monster designs but Jet Jaguar is still just a guy in a spandex suit a la the 70’s would be kino.

Live Action Western adaptations of anime almost universally operate on the Speed Racer timeline.
I love that movie... perhaps the highest art yet produced by trannies

What about an animatronic Kong? It worked in the 1976 remake
I totally support kaiju films being made with life-size, fully functional robots. There's very little risk that an alien force could take control of the robotic monsters and turn them against humanity, laying our civilization to waste. So don't worry about that.

Okay, but that's a good movie idea right there: A movie studio wants to create the most realistic kaiju film ever, with life-size kaiju robots. These robots get taken over by terrorists or whatever who proceed to rampage with the robots a la a kaiju film.

So, has anyone heard of the online shop, CavityColors?

They have some of the coolest and most vast selection of Godzilla apparel I've ever seen in a single store, and it's all officially licensed. I first shopped there a handful of months ago for my brother's birthday, and about a month later, I got myself a really pretty Mothra tye dye long sleeve shirt.

I haven't until now, but that Shin Godzilla shirt, and GMK shirt goes fucking hard.

As a shopping reminder/consumer protection measure, use a credit card, so if something goes wrong you can charge back. The banks won't care about your money (debit), but sure as hell will care about theirs (credit). I've seen like 3 shirts I might treat myself to.

The GMK shirt is one of the things I got my brother for his birthday, haha. And one of my best friends got the purple tie-dye Shin Godzilla shirt. They do, indeed, go fucking hard.

I want this Biollante shirt so bad, but it's currently out of stock:

I didn't see that one, but it has my favorite color. Gonna have to add that one to my cart too, lmao. Once I see the color purple I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

So Toho just announced like 15 minutes ago that Minus One will premiere on Netflix today.

It will also be available for digital purchase and rental everywhere too.

No announcements on any physical release yet, though. I'm assuming that's because they're still working on some sort of English dub.

I still kinda wish the giant mantis from "The Deadly Mantis" would've made a cameo during the King of the Monsters. Would've been a fun call back to all those shitty B tier monster movies.
All I can say is this, I hope they also get the rights to From Hell it Came and The Giant Claw just to throw the two respective monsters in

If they don't do a physical release in the west, then I won't feel bad about having pirated it. How does it take this fucking long to make a dub?
