The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

Watch the Xiliens come into play. Gigan, SpaceGodzilla, maybe Hedorah is reenvisioned as space junk, or Legendary is insane enough to adapt that Godzilla Odyssey script, no matter. SPAAAAAAAAAAACE THEEEEEEEME!
Honestly I'd like to see a brand-new monster come into play, but we'll see I guess.
Why Southeast Asia?
Not quite sure the description on the video says:

"For 70 years, Godzilla has commanded the big screens and captivated theworld. And now, a new roar echoes louder than ever. For the first time across Southeast Asia, the legend emerges in a powerfultribute to the fans who have kept its legacy alive. An unprecedented Godzilla marks the start of something new. This specialfootage honors Southeast Asia, celebrating seven decades of Godzilla’sunstoppable journey through the region’s iconic landmarks.Thank you for 70 years of love, memories, and passion.Witness the rise. Hear the roar. The legend reigns."

Just a tribute to asian fandom I guess.

I'll defend Space Godzilla as 90s comfort food a la Venom.
The evil version of the hero coming from outer space just works for me.

D Man1954 going through as many details as he can in the GXKS teaser.

I personally love that the marketing is getting its fans to dig in for details, like mutoresearch.net did for 2014 and the Monarch site did for KOTM, something GVK and GXK didn't have, but of course MV detractors are labeling fans as consoomers.

I'd prefer Gigan. SpaceGodzilla has always been one of the laziest Toho monsters, although maybe the Monsterverse can spruce him up so he's not just a fatter Godzilla with candy corns glued to his shoulders.
I think Gigan is the most likely. Toho has apparently been a bit difficult with the licensing for each monster, so I'd expect them to try and get their money's worth, and Gigan seems like a much safer bet that Space G... he's probably the single most popular monster they haven't used. I think the west knows the Showa monsters better than the Heisei ones in general. It could be somebody new, although after having to edit Mothra into New Empire at the last minute, they might think twice about using OCs.

There's also the fact that the last movie did really well, so maybe they'll even shell out for a few Toho monsters? I thought King of the Monsters underperforming put them off of it, but maybe WE'RE BACK and all options are on the table.

Also "SpaceGodzilla" is like the worst name ever. Yes it's accurate, but I feel like it could've been snappier. Doesn't pop the same way "Mechagodzilla" does.

Cosmoszilla?

Being released around the time of Avengers: Endgame did KOTM no favors at the box office.
This was the deciding factor for alot of movies, you really couldn't expect to go head-to-head with the culmination of 11 years of marketing. I guess its a good thing that superhero fatigue is setting in and people are looking for something new to take its place.

I hope the next movie in the Monsterverse gives those extreme close ups of Godzilla's face and eyes. Every movie had a moment like this except The New Empire. 2014 when he fell underground with buff elijah wood army man, KotM with Serizawa, and in GvK when he fucking laughs at Kong.

Literally just a few seconds of his eyes & face gave him so much personality.

"Mobile games", "console games"... PCucks btfo

Chibi Godzilla looks like broccoli
It would be nice if the mobile games did something like Puzzles and Dragon 0 (pay $10 or less, and you can play forever instead of having limited tries and watching shitty ads to keep playing). It would also be nice if they weren't as shitty as Godzilla Line Battle (The f2p journey isn't fun even if it's doable).

I want a Godzilla game that kinda does a Maneater or a Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Just give me a decent sized sandbox to roam around in breaking buildings and fighting random ass generic kaiju, take a nice swim in the ocean, with a loose story that has you go against named characters.
Not every game needs to be some whack anti tower-defense until the "boss" arrives or some attempt at a fighter.

Unironically I think the reason they haven't done this is because with Godzilla's size it'd be hard for him to be clambering all over everything like a retard. Maybe the ayy lmaos would drop gigantic kaiju-sized ubisoft towers for him to crawl up.
