Looking at the github, the most active contributor to Higan, Ares, and BSNES is Screwtapello, who also has a dead twitter account. He's continued working as if nothing's happened. He created the ares history kit yesterday, which might be the reason the mysterious update is showing up under Ares (as Screwtapello is also a contributor for Ares).

Actually, looking at it now, the Github account called "near-san" didn't start making any commits to any projects until March of last year, when he had reemerged after he shed the name "Byuu." Up until that point, almost all the commits were by Screwtapello. Screwtapello stopped making commits to Ares as soon as Byuu took his initial leave of absence and then didn't come back when Byuu was committing as near-san. The timing seems very odd, and I'm wondering if they might be one in the same. I don't know if deleting a github account would remove your name from all contributor lists and hide all of your contributions, so maybe there are contributions from byuu that are no longer visible.

so it's just gayer sigma male shit
as far as i know sigma male is just the current year version of the fedora edgelord archetype
"while you were busy partying i studied the blade" that kind of mindset, adjacent to mra/mgtow/incel thought

they/them nonbinary is the polar opposite mindset: submissive, self-loathing, self-hating, pozzed to the core

both are weirdo losers but they're very different kinds of weirdo losers

Hi gamers
I'm that annoying asshole who doesn't wanna read 150 pages to get the answer but... do we have confirmation or still nothing?
Nope no confirmation and by the looks of it we might never find out what happened to Near. For all we know he's in a coomer dungeon with his army of body pillows cooming away his days.

There's most likely going to be no answer about what really happened to this Byuu/Near guy. Not even in a month by now I predict. The only thing we're getting from this are angry bluebirds yelling at kiwis.
We had a similar thing with the Apollo Legend suicide where we just never got any real confirmation or documents until someone was able to see his mother's posts confirming it once and for all
I think we're going to be at a standstill forever until something happens with his emulators or something that'll make him come out of hiding if he truly didn't die

There's a second Near related post on r/Games where the comments seem much more skeptical about the validity of the suicide and of course tranny jannies have been active there too. They deleted an entire chain which, if I recall correctly, was just people remarking on how strange the story is and how everyone is taking Marcan's word as absolute truth. In particular some were raising questions about the phone call story and how odd it was that the caller made no effort to call the police. I can only assume that's what compelled the jannies to delete it since there was nothing in there that violated their gay rules.

Really demonstrates just how petty these people are about censoring stuff they don't like.

Something to clear up: There are now 3 articles on this bullshit which mention the Kiwi Farms by name:

-The Kotaku article, written by "Kotaku Staff" a moniker they use for regular generic content or content they do not want to claim.

-The Gizmodo article, written by Shoshana Wodinsky, a former waitress from Tel Aviv.

-The Vice article, written by Patrick Klepek, a former Kotaku writer.

All 3 of these blogs had their genesis in the same Slack chat, I can absolutely guarantee it.
This was the "GameJournoPros" sub-scandal of GamerGate, btw. They were caught conspiring to break NDAs, rig review scores, and illegally blacklist people in a mailing list. This included the "Gamers are Dead' subscandal, where like 20 of these fucking shitty publications all posted the same fucking article -- "Video games are cool but who let all these fucking video gamers in? FUCK our audience, we can replace them" -- in the same 12 hour period.

Milo the not-Gay was leaked it and embarrassed the fuck out of them. GJP was shut down, but they of course moved somewhere else.
What is this? Day four? Day three? I dunno.

Has there been any confirmation as to whether this dude is alive or dead? That's all I've wanted to know since this stared and you would think it would be the most important detail to nail down before... well, all of this shit.

Either way, any outlet that has reported on this story and claimed the guy is dead (even if that turns it to be true) have zero credibility if they even had any before this.
No. No confirmation.

One of the outlets did stop and say that it's unconfirmed, forget which one.

I'm willing to bet that Null cared more about Byuu's wellbeing than any of these Twitter troons and autists that just use his alleged suicide to attack the site and push their narrative or for self-promotion.
I feel like Kiwi Farms in general care more about Byuu/Near's wellbeing than the Twitter tardrage brigade. It does not bring me joy to think about someone actually committing suicide. Given what we know about this person, it seems like they have struggled with an unstable mind for a really long time. I feel sympathy for this person experiencing depression because I know it is difficult.

Laughing at stupid things someone is doing on the Internet doesn't mean I want them to kill themselves and I feel as if a lot of farmers can relate to that.

Doesn't matter. The narrative is set. Evidence is for bigots and shit. Listen and Believe to the suicide survivors.

That would explain the ares-history-kit update, but the one that i was talking about (and still dont know) is the actual ares repository with no pull requests and the only commits being from near-san (Byuu's github username). Its like someone updated it by changing a setting or doing a commit then deleting it.

Again Github is a mystery to me but I can imagine that Screwtapello might have changed a setting or maybe it counted as an update when he cloned the repository?

Was Byuu known for programming in Rust? That screwtapello guy seems part of the development process of the lang. It also has a bandcamp list with many chill electronica tunes by Pogo yet otherwise, not a lot of internet footprint.
