The Gun Control Debate Thread - Controlling autism since 2022

Haven't been here in a while, let's see what happening.

Oh look, @Justtocheck is still acting like a spastic child.
At least it makes for some good entertainment value seeing an autistic retard getting all angry at everyone that doesn't agree with him even when people on this thread try to be civil towards him. Lmao.
People like him kinda tempt me to support limited forms of eugenics, at least regarding the mentally retarded.
But on the other hand, it's funny to point and laugh at imbeciles like him.

"Another mass shooting happened. LMAO."

The 'anti-gun left.' 🙄
Hey don't virtue signal in the kiwifarms. It's in bad taste. I find it funny we cannot spend 3 days in this thread without any mass shooting. Kinda like having lots of guns in society is a bad idea.
In a highly gun-controlled, highly civilized, highly enforced area.
Singapore ain't doing that badly.

You're still ignoring the Canada problem. Gun control doesn't automatically stop the violence.

Well, this is KiwiFarms where laughing at lolcows is mandatory.

Statements like these make me question the mental state of the "anti-gun" crowd.

Guns behind every blade of grass. Fuck yea, behind every school, child, hospital, bar, nightclub or crowd of over 5 people. Nothing will go wrong.
Hamas called, they wanted to ask you if you wanted to join in their logistics department.

Well, if you had looked at my pfp, you'd have figured out my mental state by now.

Just kidding, I'm a good boi. I just hate what assault rifles are doing to the country. Especially the children.

yes singapore is surely the highest example of society we all must aspire to become
Indeed, I too wish for chewing gum to be banned.

Ban all teachers. They're all possible pedophiles that can infect other children with the pedo mental illness and/or scar them for life.
Fun fact: A child is more likely to be molested by a public school teacher than a Catholic priest.

I wouldn't mind homeschooling tbh. Public teaching is bullshit. Expensive daycare with hacks and pedos as leaders. And the kids then wouldn't get killed in a mass shooting at school. Nor live with the fear of it in their minds.

The number of kids or theatergoers or whatever killed by guns has no bearing on the merit or legality of the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment isn't about protecting your house from a burglar, or defending your crops from deer, or hunting meat, or keeping chimping protestors at bay (although all are good reasons for owning a gun). The intention of the 2nd Amendment is to keep the State from imposing tyranny on the populace. The number of mass shootings or serial killers is utterly irrelevant. "Well the US govt is already tyrannical." Just means Americans are too hesitant to use their firearms as intended. The 2nd Amendment is specifically designed so brain-rotted politicians don't serve as head of the nation (cough cough) or uppity governors don't impose coof curfews. Rather than weep over .0004% percent of Americans being killed in a mass shooting (to include gang violence), "muh founders'" would be sickened that we haven't massacred our entire govt and started over clean.

"Think of the kids" is pointless. I'd rather kids have a snowflake's chance in hell of being involved in a shooting than be imprisoned for making a joke about Muslims on the internet or be walled up in their home because they tested positive for the coof.

I'll ask you a few questions as someone who does think there is a gun problem in the United States but doesn't think taking away guns is a clear-cut solution to these problems (if anything, in the long run I do think that maybe there's a reason why no action is being done at all).

But first, how would you solve the problem? Literally taking away every single gun from every citizen? Take away their guns? Please don't reply with "I already answered it before, go look it up" unless you can provide a quote.

I think there are three possibilities in how to solve this problem. None of them involve having the ATF come raid your guns away.

1) America becomes like Israel, who solved the problem. Spoiling what I said about this solution on school shootings and its problems.
Israel is good example to follow but there's a catch. Most important jewish schools are bomb resistant, have 24 hour armed guards, CCTV and layered security where you are not going through the door without them double checking your identity. It does work. But A) It's a lot of work and therefore B) It's not cheap.

While I can imagine a couple of rich private schools might be willing to implement something similar but your average highschool in America is underfunded anyways. 1-2 armed security guards might stop a half assed attack with guns or knives. Or limit the damage at least. But look at Christchurch. It was over and done in less than 3 minutes. The upper hand that assault weapons give people when it comes to these attacks is monumental. I think a general ban on weapons of war is needed to really mitigate the problem in America.

Look at yesterday's attack in Denmark. The suspect only had access to a hunting rifle. Only 3 people were killed. Not 10-40.
I don't think the culture of service and security that exists in Israel can be translated well into American free society.

2) America solves it's gun culture problem. I'm quoting @Stan again who put it really well.
What part of the current gun culture is well regulated or serving the state? None but the police and the armed forces.

Guns are for killing and destroying things, but there's a prevailing culture to act as if they're like collectibles. Those who buy them because they worry about a ban and they think they need one are inviting a killing tool to live in their house. I don't see a culture of safety; I see a macho culture that wants to treat guns like collectibles, and gun makers encouraging them.

The guns end up getting used. We all know that gun accident injuries/fatalities (toddler kills sister etc.) suicides, and other unfortunate happenings are possible if you own a gun. We also all know that these fatal accidents are fairly common, enough that I could shit the thread with examples if I need to. And what about when all these surplus, basically-new guns end up falling into the wrong hands? My cousin's house was burglarized last week while she was on vacation, and that pro took everything he could steal. If they owned a gun, that gun could now be in the hands of a practiced criminal. It's dumb edgy white guys who buy a gun for a hobby who are most likely to have the same gun taken from them and used against them. Locks and lights deter and prevent burglaries much more effectively and safely than firing a gun down your hallway at a presumed assailant will end them. (Edit to add: Just ask Oscar Pistorius.)

Hopefully, the stupid gun hobbyists have theirs in a drawer or safe somewhere 95% of the time and theorize about increasingly silly scenarios in which they would need a gun designed to kill herds of wild hogs in Africa. But the guns aren't staying in the trophy case. Adam Lanza's mom was a hobbyist: her son was a monster who murdered her with her own gun. Criminals who steal these surplus guns from normies can use them later. Collections get sold and end up god knows where. I couldn't get into a hobby that causes so much unintended downstream murder; it's like breeding fighting dogs 'for self defense' because you think it'll rustle the PETA people's jimmies. You're asking for problems.

That said I do think people who need guns to to their jobs (security, hunting, defense from wild animals) should be able to get the kind of gun they need, but they have to be vetted and permitted. In my utopia, you would need to prove to the licensing board you're a hunter, and keep certifying you are actively hunting from year to year to keep your gun. If you want to play target practice with guns, you use guns provided by the range. If you're a rancher in Montana whose cattle keep getting killed by wolves, you apply to Fish+Wildlife and the sheriff for a permit to buy a rifle. No more stupid overpowered COD guns would be sold to random dickheads whose only reason to buy one is wanting one.

The gun makers are the people who profit from all of this 2A sperging anyway, you saps are just the ones getting killed.
In short, the current market of modern rifles and "2A" is a grift to make companies money. America is not Israel, and does not face existencial threats. The combination of American consoomer culture, combat hero worship and profit driven enterprise is what has gotten us into this place. People should be responsible and limit their engagement with the gun culture and make companies struggle for profit so less guns will be pumped into the market.

And yes, that means in the hypothetical case you are attacked you might be outgunned. How many Americans civilians will, in all their lives, be under attack from a rifle and not die immediately from the first shots? Not very many. And besides, it's very selfish.

3) The government makes more measures to control firearms.

People being able to 3D print firearms is ridiculous. Why are barrels being sold freely? In many countries, every part of the gun has to be stamped and controlled and shouldn't be available online. Including magazines, and ammo. The fact that you can 3D print an AR reciever and buy the remaining parts is absolutely silly and irresponsibly dangerous.

Of course the current government takes a big cut of the profit so they don't mind and I doubt we can hope for more control or common sense from the sex-pest, amoral bastards that are in charge, so meh...

4 (kinda)) Mental health is a big deal, but there are crazy psychos all over the world. Facilitating tools of murder creates a reinforcing cicle where the new murder/suicide is a mass shooting. That is not a good thing and it should not happen. Throwing more money into Mental health would be useless.

In conclusion, solution number 1 helps, and would be the closer to what most of the people here would support. Put security everywhere. I personally think it's not feasable neither in logistics, nor money. I'd like to see number 2 happen. I don't have much confidence that it will, judging from all the posters here. Number 3 is a pipe dream but who knows.... perhaps after the attacks that will surely happen in christmas leaving +30 deaths they will get on it. Or not, and just keep the flag at half mast and forget about the dead. Kinda like with Corona.

Recognizing that America is not Israel and then in the same breath saying it should follow Israel's example in law is lunacy. Saying America has a gun culture problem when the majority of gun deaths are suicide, followed then by murders (gang violence being the frontrunner) is also lunacy. Yeehaw gun collectors aren't blowing off their faces or their families' faces by accident en masse. You can also never remove or even really limit guns in the American market when we share a land border with Mexico, a veritable promised land of illegal and illicit things including weapons. Ranting about the easy availability of weapons is lunacy when I have never heard of a murderer 3D printing any gun parts and in many cases these killers were already deemed mentally unfit and unable to legally own a gun.

Even if you were to justify abolishing the 2nd Amendment, you can't remove the guns from America. People would hide them/sell them secondhand and the govt cannot hope to even begin to track all that down. Illegal guns would flow in from the southern border at an even greater rate. All you could hope for is absolutely closing off the southern border, implementing very high price buybacks, banning all sale and manufacture of firearms, and waiting a century for the firearms in the US to end up in hands that surrender them to the govt or go out of commission due to damage or wear. Absolutely unfeasible. You would just pool the weapons in the undesirables of society.

Mental health is a major part of these mass shootings. There are some outliers but they happen in people of a similar age range, almost always with a record of mental illness and violent behavior, and often in clusters around the same times of year. There's clearly more to this than "mean man have gun." What's funny is they often are not all that conservative or even that politically-motivated, implying politics has very little to do with why they want to kill people.
