The HBO Max/Discovery Griefing Thread - look how they massacred my boys

They laid off more people in the last few months and dc axed a ton of shit. Lmao
But as of yet they've not confirmed killing off Doom Patrol. Come on DC, it must be costing you fuck and all these days. Leave it be or else I'll snitch on you cancelling a show whose entire main cast are either gay, disabled, neurotypical or a combination of the above to the usual suspects. I know none of them are watching it but like that ever mattered.

This is the final season, it’s been known for a while. I believe one of the main people working on it said as far back as S2 that it was meant to be a four-season show, they’re going out on their terms.

Thanks for confirming. I'm not too surprised to be honest, it always had limits. Hopefully will be a decent conclusion.

Sorry to bump this thread but now the streaming service is called Max, and they have created a retarded subscription deal

9.99 for a month but has ads

15.99 for a month but it will be ad-free

19.99 for a month but it will be "Ultimate Ad-free" which just means you can watch shit in 4k

Piracy continues to be superior.
Too much sounding a little like HBO's own Cinemax. I know this may sound generic, but couldn't they call it Warner+? I'm just throwing ideas here.

They are now talking about merging Warner Brothers with Paramount which means merging the various streaming services. Warner Brothers has a ridiculous $44billion in debt. Paramount has $16billion in debt. So a new company with a combined $60billion in debt will be one of the largest television and streaming companies by far. The combined value of both companies is $39billion as well currently.

Wasn't this the same tactic employed by Yellow/Roadway and Kmart/Sears?

Yellow went bankrupt this year and IIRC there are only 12 Sears stores left in the United States.

That's a big doubt there. You see, if the two even merge, then it's still completely difficult as they have to deal with FCC and other anti-trust laws. While the two share their ownership with The CW, keep in mind that Warner has HBO and Paramount has Showtime. The one thing they can do is sell one of their respective channels

is there anything thats actually popular on max?
Max or HBO? Because HBO has stuff like White Lotus, Last of Us, Righteous Gemstones, Gilded Age. Not to mention endless Game of Thrones and Dune content apparently. They have yet another Game of Thrones show coming up. Plus a prequel series about the clown from IT. Harry Potter series supposedly on the works. This stuff is all popular. Pretty much the only reason people subscribe to HBO Max is for the HBO shows and old movies.

If you are talking about stuff that is Max original and not HBO then there is almost nothing that is or was good. The list of original shows to Max are basically 99% garbage tier content churned out for retards who watch reality shows with eight minute commercial breaks. Or background noise for people doing house cleaning. The only Max original show to have any success is Hacks with its dozens of Emmy trophies not that those are worth anything in reality.

Two years and it's all for nothing. The funny thing is that they had to redevelop another app from scratch for the first Max renaming, and some international market just had their refresh like two months ago. 1747248064273_webp.webp

Anybody who’s spent time on the farms probably noticed Grok going on a rant about whites in South Africa at the end for no reason, but that still makes me laugh hysterically.

So the geniuses figured out HBO was the prestige brand, not Max, and changed its name back to HBO Max. These moron executives get paid 7 figures?

It's to help sell the Streaming & Studios part. Gets rid of dead weight that the big companies don't want or have no need for. A tec company like Apple would have no interest in owning any linear network, while companies like Comcast already have their own linear networks to support without the need for anymore.

Also makes it easier for foreign companies to have a go at grabbing, as laws prevent them from owning American TV stations. Sony tried buying Paramount, but needed the help of a US partner to do so due to the TV station assets, that talk ended up falling apart.
