The King Of Fighters XV - SNK's last hope after SamSho2019, 70GB fighting game

Got the game, feels a bit bare bones but still really fun. Runs fine on my win max, it does get a little hot though.

Only gripe is you cant change the music of the levels for story mode through the dj station, only versus mode. You needto play through story mode with lots of different combinations of teams so its gonna feel like an absolute slog eventually.

some of the negative reviews about the game mentioned awful keyboard binds for the game. this doesn't sound surprising at all because 98UM and 02UM had horrible, HORRIBLE rebinds for keyboard. it was not changing after you save the new rebind set, it was changing right after you rebind your key, which made scrolling for other rebinds too confusing.

they're definitely not popular with their optimization.

unlocking music in a fighting game is one of the weirdest things i've ever heard. i can just play the fucking music in BG. instead of making unlockable characters they made unlockable music. really??

Even glitchy Gameboy DBZ games can let you toggle music....this is bizarre to me.

New characters are unlocked by paying exorbitant amounts of money through DLC, it makes for a more immersive experience.

I managed to unlock the secret cum mode yesterday but not sure how I managed to do it *sigh*

MVC2 is a fucking mess (still love it), am I the only one who preferred the original MVC?
I liked the music in the first one, arcade games from capcom always had a very distinct feel to them from that time period. I always preferred mvc2 because it had everyone in it, all the characters from xmen children of the apocalypse, marvel superheroes etc it's one reason I like kof 2002 um, just quantity over quality really. You feel like your getting more.

Edit: almost forgot, it's the same reason I wanted mortal kombat trilogy so badly when I was younger, mortal kombat is such a shit broken game already and trilogy probably already made it worse, being able to play as every boss and the like. Had some friends over for beers and trying to play the original on mame is such a frustrating experience. Street fighter 2 is much better in that regard.

I want them to make an old school dream match game at the end of shun-ei's saga, imagine the kof 15 models fighting the janky kof 14 ones or if some characters like duck king don't make it into 3d they just become straight up sprites

I've pirated the game. it suffers from Vsync issues and I get a shit ton of screen tearing.
shatter strike is weird and doing it mid-combo is broken. Maxmode is straight up ported from kofxiv.

every goddamn LV3 has the same input. they're all qcb.hcf.C+D. wtf happened here? this ruined the uniqueness of the supers. you wanna do double qcf.PP for Ryo's big ass punch but instead literally every character got the same motion for it.

unlocking music is just fucking stupid. only KOF94 and KOFXIV osts are unlocked by default. they could accomplish a lot by making the story mode (which is just fucking arcade mode just like XIV) interesting for the replayability.

autocombos are stupid too. they somehow put a twist to it and after mashing jab 3 times and hitting something else you get different outcomes.
4th A: LV3 super
4th B: special move
4th C: LV1
4th D: LV2.
they could get rid of mashing A. it could work just like MI2 and that shitty game got better autocombo patterns.

they also removed every charge motion from the game, same with mashing for specials. Clark's machine gun hands is a fucking DP motion now. his charge launcher is now hcb.p. this game is really taking the SFV route with removing the skill gap and adding shitty simplicity so anyone can play KOF.

@postal_dad , I have an instinctual feeling that KOF-15 isn't beginner friendly, am I correct?
Also thanks to "Smash Bros. Ultimate" having Terry Bogard and Ryu/Ken, how optimistic do you think "Street Fighter"/"King of Fighters" will have a future crossover game in spite of Capcom pushing the franchise into e-sports/ their past beef over Roberto's initial character design and creation of Dan?
(I'd kill for a Roberto/Dan match up....:optimistic:)

it's trying to be beginner friendly. kofxiv was already beginner friendly with autocombos and it's now more beginner friendly with less executions and more confirms.

great question because i don't know. KOF Allstar recently announced Street Fighter V crossover. to be fair SNK already contacted Capcom to port SVC pocket on Steam so bad blood seems to be over.
expecting a new crossover fighting game is too optimistic but who knows what may happen in future

It'd be cool if they added in all the stages from kof xiv as some sort of dlc. That would probably be really easy too since they have all the assets made already.

Oh, I'm pleased to know that the decades' long feud is over and I agree that it's a tad optimistic.
I'll be glad to watch gameplays/YouTuber reviews/Screenshots from the Forums in the meantime. :)

I just hope that a CVS 3 is less of a street fighter vs KoF and they go with weird shit like Gene from God Hand and the guy from crystalis

Ash still has his charge shit I noticed so it's not like they are nuking them from the game entirely, though I wish terry still had rising tackle as a charge rather than his KoF 2002 version of making it a DP input
