Wouldn't shock me if that was the case. I know KoF machines were cheaper to buy compared to Capcom ones at the very least. I know there's also a pocket of Mortal Kombat players, but it's centered around the Nintendo 64 version of MK Trilogy.

KoF and other misc SNK fighters were cheaper to buy the machines and then eventually some pirate/refurbished boards for the VS games like MVC2 popped up, when the xbox generation started then people used the xboxes they bought for halo vidya cafes for shit like Soul Cal or CVS2

spic fightan game culture also got propped up by PCs running emulators for KoF, and at the uber poverty/ghetto level, Flash clones of KoF

Of course they're going to scrap the unused sprites, nobody (i.e. the big companies like Capcom and the likes) makes 2D fighters anymore, it's all 3D. The difference is whether or not it's cel-shaded.

there's no way they'll revert back to sprites. almost all of SNK IPs are converted to 3D by nu-SNK.

best bet is hoping the scrapped characters will be actually made. I'm pretty sure that's what they're aiming for. of course they can just make Garou 1 but 3D, this is SNK afterall. there has to be some sort of Twitter rioting to get them to fucking work.

Seen a few YouTube comments that got my noggin joggin. Kim is wearing black and hes a single DLC, Could he be doing a heel turn? an overpowered heel Kim would be awesome if he kept the exact same attitude as he did normally, just everyone noticing he's going too far. Then probably revert to face in the next KOF

I got it discounted a few months ago and never really started playing it until like a week ago. It's pretty good, although it's got that cartoony look to it that XVI had so eh. I'd rather them make them look more realistic instead of that semi cel shaded thing they're doing. I love that there's something like 300 songs from across the series you can put to whatever stages you want. I just wish they brought back color edit.

I did the boss challenges and Rugal wasn't so bad, but Goenitz I think has to be the most cheap boss SNK ever put in this series and that's saying a lot. I did beat him, but you need to use Isla and keep doing her air special kick thing and for some reason the AI doesn't block it and you just cheese it for about a minute until he's dead. And you get his much better newer outfit as an unlock. Beating Rugal gives you his 2002 armored coat thing with the power cords hanging off the back.

I don't remember this prior to the latest Goenitz update but there is some serious lag when you pull up the select screen and the cursor is stuck for a few seconds before it allows you to move it around to other characters.

iirc in 96 he was particularly retarded about defending against whatever Athena's air downward attack, whatever it was called, or at least he was on the Saturn version

I beat him in the Orochi collection. I don't remember what my team was, but I probably did it with team Fatal Fury since I mostly main them. He was definitely tough but it's been awhile so I can't remember how he stacked up but I know he was harder than Orochi and Omega Rugal 95'.

But I will say there's never been another boss this fucking cheap. He gets meter immediately and just combos through everything. And his damage resistance is just broken. It's not even worth trying supers on him. I'm just glad I got it done, even though it was through cheesing. His alt outfit is an objective improvement imo.

it's been a while. duo lon is announced few days ago.

the last DLC is theorized to be Hinako, that sumo girl from older games, after that i'm considering SNK to discontinue the game since they announced Garou: City of the Wolves. when kof xiv was still hanging, they made samsho and announced kofxv around 2019. xiv was out in 2016. there was at least 3 years for kofxiv to profit snk.
kofxv was released in 2022. its just been a year since it's out and they reveal new game footage.

like i said this could be the last DLC for the game, as i highly doubt they'll continue working on XV. it gets very slow updates for fighting game standarts so snk might aswell be uninterested.

Oh dear. I had a soft spot for Mature and Vice on pants. Now, just give us Shen so I can rebuild my KOF XIII team.

They gave us Oswald in XIV so I'm down for Shen now. Side note; I was very happy to see him return after he was just conspicuously gone from XIII.

Also I'd love to see Adelheid Bernstein again. It's not fun to know that he was supposed to be in XIII but never made the cut. Could be fun if they added him now and we could have some interaction between him and his dad.

From a lore point of view, that aspect has always fascinated me.

I always thought that the big wombo-combos you see online are some ultra high level stuff, but imagine my surprise when i found out the 70 to 100% sequences are just super cancels into one another. The 3v3 structure rules, because you start out playing neutral and by the third character It's off the wall crazy bullshit.

I'm so tired of SF6 feeling more and more like a soulless esports title, that KoF got me hooked
