That's one I had in mind alongside Chris Bores/Irate Gamer. I plan on rewriting his OP.Linkara is in dire need of a rewritten OP.
Definitely. I just think it's these older OPs that are currently in the most dire need of a rewrite because for a lot of newer ones, a higher standard for what an OP should be had already been established by the time they were written. I also think part of the motivation for a thread getting a revamp depends on the current relevance of the cow/subject. If you can think of any newer OPs you feel need a rewrite, list them here for consideration.I think it shouldn't be just "older" threads considered for rewrites. Even newer thread OPs that are messy, the person who posted it was banned or went inactive, or any other solid reason for needing a rewrite.
I've liked this trend of people volunteering to rewrite OPs because almost all of them have been immaculate. I would love to see that kind of quality standards being spread across the site.
Yes, but this is the thread where the main task is to recruit members to dedicate our time to updating shitty threads. People can still update OPs on their own time, but we are more focused on working on the ones that need the most work right now.Don't we already have an "updating old shitty OPs" thread?
It's now in progress
To add onto this: I just came off finishing the Pamperchu OP rewrite a few days ago. I agree with Spunt that actually writing the OP was the easy part. The hardest part was probably the research since Pamps was a cow I was only vaguely familiar with at the time, and there was a lot of information to go through. I think it's reasonable to say I spent four times as much time researching than I did on writing.Researching any other thread to re-write an OP would take even more time than the dozens of hours I put into those threads, and I have much less free time to dedicate to the Farms than I did back then. Researching and re-writing new OPs on my own is something that I don't have time to do.
What's been happening so far is that people have been creating their own rough drafts and will ask the group what should be changedAdmittedly, I'm not entirely sure what the optimal way to turn OPs into a group effort would entail. Not to sound like I'm bragging, but ultimately 95% of the work was on me to make that OP happen. Would we designate certain people to research and another to write? I just don't know the ideal way to divide work up.
I honestly wouldn't mind doing Cosmo, considering I watched quite a bit of his content a few months ago. I'll keep it on the back burner if I it hasn't been done already.I know it's very, very low priority since he's basically a dead cow now, but I'm sad Cosmo Wright never get a detailed and informative OP. His thread was made 8 years ago and was basically "we all know who this loser speedrunner is, here's a thread" but since it's been massively irrelevant since then, I really doubt the newer Kiwis have any idea who he is or was. It's even worse since his thread was made a while after his fall from grace to JOHN FUCKING NUMBERS and Soylent, so it was already a post-mortem in a way. It's a shame since some of Cosmo's antics were very amusing and he's one of the few lolcows that has a bona fide film festival documentary about him, though as a famous speedrunner instead of an infamous tranny.
