The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Honestly, I've been doing (admittedly, light) research on cordyceps and I'm starting to think Drunkman literally slapped his name on other people's work, specially in the first game.

Apparently, this thing goes way beyond simply hijacking an ant's brain and making it act weird until it's ready to pop out the corpse; things down to the celular level are played with and chemically fucked with by the fungus and played with so that the organism functions with single-minded, laser focus to spread the infection. Host's fitness level are cranked to the highest possible, and the fungus interferes with it's immune system to make it better; if an ant catches Cordyceps, it basically turns into its equivalent to a Terminator... but y'know, organic instead of a cool, killer robot.

A Cordyceps that adapts to fucking with vertebrates, and humans in particular is unleaded nightmare fuel. As in, I don't think Armored Deathfats were anywere close to the endgame of the fungus, this thing is evil and smart.

Druckmann obviously didn't have any input over this, and it fucking sucks there is a 100% chance whoever had the original idea fucked off and no one will tap that vein.

I can't really pinpoint why, but I really hate/dislike the Quartering. I think its because I don't think I've heard the guy say anything remotely original and he's just cashing in on the anti-SJDubya entertainment politics block thing.

He's much more tolerable on his private Facebook account, not sure why he sent me a friend request, but he is a lot more unfiltered on there. He's a lot different on YouTube, he's pretty much admitted to doing it for money while clowning around and pandering. He comes off a little more right wing on Facebook then he lets on in his videos.

Have to say this is the most coherent version of events that agree with all the leaks, the missing info from the leaks being the role the Seraphites play. I'm inclined to believe this, since on the surface it doesn't seem like a bad story, but definitely suffers from Cuckmann huffing his own farts.

Can someone explain what the WLF group is? So Abby is part of this group. Why are all these groups forming?

The WLF is the Washington Liberation Front, who supposedly took over Seattle after the military abandoned it. It may be the group Abby is a part of now. Or maybe she's a Firefly still. Who knows?

What a let-down, TLoU was the first game I played on PS4. Any sequel should have been about new characters completely unrelated to Joel & Ellie. Even a straightforward sequel without subverting expectations would have been lazy because the original was a nice little self-contained story that should have been left alone but this is a joke.
The series was better off being a anthology of zombie survival groups recounting the times of the pandemic, that ideas sounds better then what we have right now

Are you kidding me? Link

Chances are, they had already gone gold by the time the leaks happened. The process is a pretty big bureaucratic thing where you can't stop the submission to SIEA/SIEE/SIEJ just because of a leak, and going through the motion again is expensive, moreso if you want to skip queue ahead of other studios.

Hell, certification at Sony is probably run on skeleton crews right now.

The Last Jedi analogies only work to a point because I think Rian Johnson on some level thought he was producing something controversial but still of artistic merit. This seems to have produced out of nothing but pure contempt for the audience.

Yes, I know I'm late to this mess.

Agreed, Joel and Ellie's story was done, you very easily have told another story in that world with all new characters, but there was no need to try to continue the story of Joel and Ellie.

It would certainly beat murdering them both for absolutely no reason literally just to say fuck you to the fans. "Fuck you, you worthless shits, you scum, give us your money."

A lot of people seem to be missing just how malicious the Fireflies are. They don't even tell Ellie what will happen. They bash Joel in the head while he's performing fucking CPR on her, see her and think, "Fuck, time to cut her open," and they want to just kill Joel immediately. They only don't because of Marlene.

They are terrible, authoritarian nutjobs. They don't care about Democracy, they're pissy children upset that they aren't in charge.

Joel is not a monster. The people who decided to kill a child for a cure that has a minuscule chance of working are. A cure they can't mass produce, or ship anywhere. Who'd get this vaccine if it worked? The Fireflies. Their troops. They'd spread the word throughout America, "Fight for us, and we'll vaccinate you." It's a shitty and downright evil attempt at a power grab.

And the really shitty part is if Marlene had just waited for Joel to wake, waited on the operation and explained it to Ellie, she would have willingly sacrificed herself. Everyone who's played the game knows Ellie would be willing. And Ellie is the only person who could convince Joel to let her go. He went across the country alone and wasted through people trying to hurt her. Did they really think he'd just lay down and let her die like that? Maybe that's why the others just wanted to kill him.

But the Fireflies can't lose the advantage. They can't risk her saying no. So they drag her in there unconscious, make sure she stays that way and are about to crack her head open when Joel does what any loving, normal fucking man would do.

He got his little girl.

Well yeah, it wasn't really Kojima's fault. Konami was actively making life hell for the devs if the rumors are to be believed.

I just find it interesting how people were leaking how bad Konami was making things all those years ago and everyone collectively got angry at them, but when the working conditions at Naughty Dog are rumored to be terrible with an insane turnover rate, a disturbing number of people look the other way.

kojima apparently also run up quite a bill konami probably figured had no way of recouping, and nip companies don't fire you, they want you to quit. not to defend konami, but things happen for a reason.

as for blame, kojima is a single personality. ND devs are a bunch of people no one knows. even the rockstar crunch a few years back made people care more because for that people had at least details to get angry about. I wouldn't be surprised if most people don't even know what crunch really means.

I'm talking about the Maslow hierarchy, which says nothing about selling art.
I suggest you familiarize yourself with the tiny obscure midcentury scuffle usually called "World War II". Obviously no one was doing monumental sculpture or oil painting in the trenches, but they did write stories, poems, songs, letters home, diaries and accounts of military life of no military value to be printed in bulletins, as well as made material trench art. (And of course they consumed professional art, which would be unavailable during the apocalypse, but that would only heighten the demand for amateur art.)
you are aware a soldier gets fed, has shelter, is part of a unit of comrades, most likely has a family/girlfriend and successfully completed his training (while possibly also a civilian career), right? do you understand where this puts him on the pyramid?

No one is freezing to death in a ditch for 5 years. As time has evidently passed and the chick has grown up, things must have fallen into a stable pattern. They've adjusted to the new life, it's the new normal, the heyday of the post-apoc. The population density is roughly the same as it was during TLoU1. They've learned to hunt and farm and there's still plenty of farm (and other) equipment to use. And they also have a lot of free time watching corn grow to have all the rainbow parties they want.
(Historically, hunting and gathering left way more free time to hunters and gatherers than agriculture left field workers, but that's only because the overclass of agricultural civilizations exploited them.)
so the basic needs are met, the psychological needs are met and now they can self-actualize. congratulations, it's like his theory described.

I would't even discount gender pronouns except for the utter inability of genderspecials to engage in productive labor.
yes, that's what I meant, thank you for getting it I guess?

Some stay when they could go to a shelter or parents' home because they're "ashamed", some run away to cots in flea-infested flophouses and do illegal hard labor. Which is exactly my point: Maslow's so-called hierarchy doesn't predict shit.
until it does but doesn't count for whatever reason. and yes, there are options, but how come not every women uses them? in case you forgot
People would prefer prisons with their guaranteed food and housing to the uncertainty of freedom.
if it's completely wrong and you're completely right no one ever would do so, yet here we are. unless you mean prison literally, or maybe that's only the case for my arguments. either way, not every prison is a building.

seriously, I really don't get why you're so triggered by it. either your examples validate it, or they miss the point/willfully ignore it to prove it's wrong. since I know you're not stupid I assume you understand what the individual parts mean and why they are stacked the way they are. it's not like wikipedia spells it out at length if you don't. and no, it doesn't "predict" anything, that's not even close.

Can't wait for it to turn out the US government has been funding gain of function research on cordyceps as either a medical supplement to kill any disease, to fend off when it's able to infect people or to create a super soldier.

Kojima was also 2nd in command at Konami when the bulk of their employee mistreatment allegations were going on, not an innocent bystander.

This dude said he cried at his own writing, I don't know any writers but that seems bizarre to me.

In his case it's strange, but writers crying over their own writing doesn't have to be weird. I attended a writing class for a few weeks last fall and one middle-aged lady started crying at her own text which dealt with a family losing one of their parents, and you could tell very clearly she had been inspired from her own experience which obviously made her emotional.

Cuckmann has never been a teenage lesbian or a roid-raged golf enthusiast so I doubt there's anything personal to him in this story, only dumb shit, unnecessary wokeness and nonstop stroking of his own ego.
