LOL. Yara came from literally out of nowhere to help kill that guy, they push him off the rotten boat into the water, Yara asks who it was, and Abby says "it doesn't matter." Then they moved onto the next scene.

So Manny literally got killed by an NPC in a cutscene.

Abby has no redeeming qualities. She is not a sympathetic character. She roams the country killing every Joel she meets. She is a serial killer with an established pattern. She deserves to be executed, not allowed to go free. If the message here us that Abby has to live with her sins for the rest of her life then it doesn't work. Because she doesn't seem to care. Otherwise she would have used anything at her disposal to locate the right Joel instead of going on a serial killing rampage.

The raging troon beating up on the cis lesbian just feels so current year crazy. A visual representation of troons crying foul when lesbians don't want their girldick.

Has anyone ever seen an old Japanese animated film called Chirin no Suzu (Ringing Bell)? It's about a lamb named Chirin whose mother is killed by a wolf. He vows revenge and goes on an insane quest that turns him into a rampaging beast. When he finally kills the wolf it does nothing. It's an empty victory because all the sheep are now afraid of him and no one is left to love him. So he ends up alone in the mountains forever. He learned nothing and gained nothing but lonliness.

TLOU2 seems overall tragic going by Abby's story and what happens to Ellie at the end. But unlike Chirin, you can't really feel sorry for Abby. Because she just comes out of nowhere, uses Joel's head for putting practice and is not an established character with a backstory you can get into. I never played the first game but it looks like Abby is brand new and the doctor Joel kills will actually scalpel him to death as part of a scripted event if you don't act first. Therefore the doctor's death should be seen as self defense.

Yes that is sad for Abby. She lost her dad. And she probably doesn't see things the way Joel did and I doubt there is going to be a point in the game where she gets any enlightenment. Maybe if there are scenes that show Abby with her dad and establish some kind of backstory that makes Abby more than a roided up killing machine. But it looks like they went for edgy revenge quest instead of teaching you to sympathize with the villain.

At least Chirin is shown as an emotionally wounded child who learns that life is cruel and everything has to die some day. He makes the wrong choice and has to live with the horrible consequences of his actions.

What are we supposed to take away from TLOU2? Beloved characters get blugeoned, beat and defingered by a newbie who just appears on the scene bent for blood?

I don't know much about Ellie. Is it very out of character for her to go on a revenge quest and leave Dina behind? Would she care that her own revenge quest puts a pregnant girl she loves in danger?

It all seems like some fanfic written by an edgy 16 year old.

Why spare Abby? It isn't just Ellie's Joel that she killed. She has ruined countless lives and seems completely sane. There aren't voices in Abby's head telling her to kill every Joel she sees. She doesn't get a pass.

Absolutely. ME 3 had decent DLC and again, didn't outright hate you. It also had a VERY popular multiplayer mode that people still play to this day, 8 years later. So yes. This is unequivocally worse than ME 3. This might end ME 3 hate. That's how big it is.

I'm sure someone has already said this but this thread moves too fast - this game feels like a microcosm of current mainstream culture. Druckmann takes a universally beloved white man with decent morals and not only kills him gruesomely but shit (and spit) on his corpse. Then not only does he fuck over the new protagonist, he turns her into an ugly tranny lesbian. Then he forces you to play as a black woman you hate who is not just ugly but is also an amoral cunt. He then crams an absurd morality tale down your throat where the moral seems to be 'anything white men do is automatically bad and anything trannies and niggers do is automatically good no matter how utterly fucked it is' And the instant anyone objects he insists they are bigots. Are we sure this isn't the biggest gayop in history?
