It would be if we were living in a rational timeline, but I guess Sony took the mixed reviews too personally.

It's backwards logic. high sales indicate a demand for more Days Gone, and a sequel could be used to improve upon the groundwork of the original (assuming a lot of the grievances were sound instead of incompetence on the journalist's part, frankly it seems that the audience was far more positive about it).

Days Gone > The Last of Us imo. The story drags in places and Deacon's a hypocrite at times, but the Hordes are fun to tackle, environments are great and the game doesn't smack you over the head with virtue signalling.

You. Dense. Motherfucker. A remake can be used to restructure combat encounters & level design to accommodate mechanics from a sequel and better hardware. How blind do you have to be to not know that in light of the many remakes that do that sort of thing, and some for prices lower than the original versions?

always was. either the studio got shuttered or supposed to feed the blockbusters. days gone was also considered one (or a leftover way too far in production) and proof even stuff like that can sell well (even if it didn't make it's money back, but haven't looked into that).

Yes this is the extra hilarious thing. Recall how this re-remake was not started or even mostly worked by ND. The remaining ND cultists use this as another excuse of many as to why the re-remake is just a re-visual overhaul. Yet the reality is the opposite. Think about it, if the re-remake is just a retexture running on PS5, what did the previous team do? They of course were retexturing the game. ND just jumped in last moment because Cuckmann does not actually have any worthy developers at all to claim anything at all to his name. Then he proceeded to lie and overhype the product as his big reveal about what ND was "doing" for 2 whole years. And as to what ND actually did, my money is 100% on accessibility options and probably making the faces even uglier. (See Sarah)

Its not like they actually re-made anything so the truth is that ND is stealing this 'glory' of a retexture when they didn't even do that. And this is why ND will not release anything under Cuckmann. And as others said are a parasite on Sony and their other studio's resources.

leaks are like game demos, they can generate hype and boost sales - if the game is actually good (or gets meme'd enough).
but it doesn't work at all and has the opposite effect if the game is crap or just reinforces what people already think about it.

sure, you might get some contrarian sales (which most likely would've bought it anyway), but the big mass of normies who only buy the game based on NAME and REPUTATION will stay away if that name is suddenly associated with being shit. they don't even have to see it themselves, they just need to hear their peeps or the internet at large talk about it.

Its like if God of War Ragnarok gets leaked, I would stay away but if I hear unintentionally praises and the ocassional cool thing, like "Kratos rips Thor in half" or some shit, I will be excited and want to buy the game to see it for myself.
But if I hear some cucked shit like "Kratos die to the diversity hire character", you bet I will stay away...so will my cash.

The ps4 remaster is still perfectly serviceable. Though as mentioned above, I totally could see ND pulling it from the storefront with how assblasted they get.

Honestly, it's probably the best way to experience the original at this point. Play it as a stand alone. Pretend Part 2 didn't happen and this ps5 "remake" is just trying to retcon "this was always here" bullshit from part 2.

Ignore it.

The first game clearly works better as a stand alone story with an ambiguious ending anyway. I really dont think we were meant to see what happened after it.
