The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Joel and Tommy being locked characters, probably means that Drunkmann wants players to play through the main story of the game, before being able to play as them. As for why Mel is also a playable character, I have no idea either, unless Drunkmann really insists on having preggo girl be playable.
no its because you'll unlock points to purchase characters when you finish a game (not the main game, this thing) as they'll be treated like cosmetics basically.

I don't think Joel in one will happen. probably two thirds of viewers maybe even more are only watching for Pedro Pascal.
Do that many people actually like watching Pedro Pascal? What's the appeal?

He's the Mandalorian and a lot of women seem to think he's absurdly handsome. Frankly I don't see it and I think he looks like the average Mexican roofer but for whatever reason he's red hot in Hollywood right now, people can't get enough of him.

Some more news about Season 2 of the TLOU HBO Show:

And it looks like the Joel-In-One will likely happen early on in Season 2, given that Pedro Pascal may get relegated to being a 3rd lead. Then again, there is the question about if Mazin, Drunkmann, Gross, and the like, will hold off on the Joel-In-One, knowing that ratings will tank once Pascal is out of the picture.
There is the possibility of flashbacks with s1 characters
That's how they're going to kill Joel off and yet still have Pedro be a big name in the show for a while, isn't it?

The Mandalorian spends most of the time with his helmet on. Somebody else could be in that suit (and maybe there is) and nobody would notice. If that's what they're basing his popularity on, then I'm doubly baffled.

He's had an incredibly strong fanbase in Tumblr ever since he became famous practically overnight with Game of Thrones, and his popularity never went downhill. A lot of his fans find him not only hot but also charismatic/charming in interviews which increases his appeal. He's also an overused "face" to use for characters in roleplaying communities, especially when writers put him in gay relationships with characters played by Oscar Isaac for some reason (probably because they're friends irl).

I don't get the appeal whatsoever and find him incredibly oversaturated, but his popularity is very much real and not astroturfed. Thus it'll be a fucking shitshow if they kill off their stronk Latino man thirst-watch representation so pathetically like they did for Joel in the game.

I'm not suggesting he's astroturfed, but I also believe that Tumblr weirdos have an online vocal presence that far exceeds their actual prevalence in the real world.

If he's popular because of a character who met an inglorious end in GoT, then I would expect those fans to eat up the upcoming Joel in One, too. The types of weirdos who "ship" him online with Oscar Isaac surely already know the Joel in One is coming.

An Update on The Last of Us Online

In ramping up to full production, the massive scope of our ambition became clear. To release and support The Last of Us Online we’d have to put all our studio resources behind supporting post launch content for years to come, severely impacting development on future single-player games. So, we had two paths in front of us: become a solely live service games studio or continue to focus on single-player narrative games that have defined Naughty Dog’s heritage.
So instead of shooting for the live-service money printer, they went with, what, three or four years of doing nothing but remasters? What "future single-player games" even exist? It's just the same shit, reheated.

Just further proof Neil has hijacked Naughty Dog and the franchise with the sole intent of forcing its fans down the throat of his shitty fiction, if a TLOU3 even happens which is unlikely. What REALLY happened I bet, since this is a pretty bad announcement to make right before the holidays, is that there was some budget cutting and they decided to finally kill off multiplayer to shore up resources being spent on other basic shit like visceral gore and whatever.

I’m convinced that game never actually existed. All we ever saw was one piece of concept art when it was announced multiplayer was becoming its own game rather than be added.
I agree. It's weird that nothing "in game" leaked after all these years, unlike the Horizon multiplayer that looked like Fortnite.

Because remember, it was originally supposed To be included with the sequel. It only supposedly became its own game a couple years ago.
