There's some sort of Mandela effect going on here. Many people swear up and down that this was in the game and some even claim ND changed or removed it with a patch, but nobody has ever provided video evidence of it.

It's the Firefly's Recorder in the University artifact, and then somewhat reaffirmed with the Surgeon's Recorder as an artifact. It bluntly states that they've not had any new breakthroughs in years, and that they've had previous test cases before.
It does however note she seems unique compared to those cases due to a few unique immune response compared to other subjects. So technically, there is a figleaf of legitimacy on Cuckman's idiocy; she does have the keys to immunity somehow and they have some level of moral standing.
The problem is that they come off as retarded regardless, since they're actively cutting open the golden goose and their prior track record is garbage. They also have no guarantees that her dissection will do shit all too. Add the conditions of the hospital, the flight of expertise via death and disillusionment and I just don't buy the take they're in the right.
Especially given how hard Cuckman is trying to force it, especially since you can't actively let her FUCKING DIE in even the remake.

I absolutely agree that the first game gave me no reason to believe that the Fireflies would have any success developing a vaccine. But the post I was replying to claimed that there were others with immunity, which is a claim I have seen repeated many times elsewhere, but it's not in the game.

You keep answering me as if I was defending drunkmann and his shitty writing, the point I'm making goes beyond whether if its moral or not, I'm saying its plain illogical to blame the player when they weren't given a choice, tlou2 punishes the player for playing tlou1, theres no subversion as drunkmann talks about, his retconn is the equivalent of kicking the chessboard while he was losing and say "lol yOu weRenT exPectinG thAt!"

especially when the world ended in 2003 instead of 2013. Like say what you will about mental health, stuff like therapy was basically unheard of back in 2003. most americans didn't even believe ADD was real. it was straight up only something for upper class neurotic jews in 2003.
Also there doesn't seem to be any real reason why they changed when the "end of the world" is like its not like they played into it any especially in the flashbacks, somehow fags weren't treated the way they 100% were treated back then. in general i can't wait for them to somehow make a worse version of TLOU2

It definitely comes off as 100% retarded because they have all the time in the world to study Ellie, try to make a vaccine without killing her. If they keep her alive they could have a infinite supply of a potential vaccine, but no, instead they come off as complete lunatics that begin slicing into her immediately

Wow I really, really hate that. I love Catherine O'Hara but there was no need for this. A friend of mine had a theory that Gail was just in Joel's head or something in order to cope. I don't feel like Joel would be the type to go to therapy, no matter the time.

I think Joel is surviving S2 of the show, Pascal's just too big a name and they've kinda built the show around him - I don't think HBO is just going to let Druckmann do whatever he wants here, real cash cow streaming shows are kind of rare, even if it's undeserved in The Last of Us's case they're still not going to allow such a screwup, making the near irrelevant gay side character(s) have their moment is one thing, killing off the head of the show, especially if it's done so soon and in the way it was in the games would plummet ratings.

You do realize Fraiser and his profession was seen as a joke right? he's supposed to be an overeducated dumbass. a boomer version of a midwit or redditor. As the Sopranos and Analyze this was meant to show, therapy was for the rich and neurotic. It wasn't something normal people would admit to using or going to.
Hence why you had call in shows like that or Dr.Laura involving them dealing with psychotic people's issues.
i would not be surprised if the story is entirely different from TLOU2 at this point, the fact he's forced to say this publicly means he's getting out ahead of the season. I bet he doesn't even die in the show, just a really bad injury.
I'm more shocked Pedro would even have time to do a new season of TLOU2, between FF and Gladiator 2 and the avengers films and his other projects the fact he also is doing this tv show is insane. Its not like the Mandolorean where he could just be doing the voice, he has to do a lot of physical stuff right?
