The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

I'll warn you, the Connor stuff is legit great, and David Cage should make more stuff like that.

However, the other two character's stories are crap and too weighty for Cage/initially interesting but ruined by a stupid plot twist.
Yeah, I absolutely agree. The buddy cop dynamic between Connor and Mister Krabs is great, specially since it’s also in the players hands on how deep this friendship goes. This is also another thing I‘d like to point out: Detroit had a budget of roughly 30 million Dollars, compared to Last Of Us 2 with over 100 million.
Detroit has more replay value and more likable characters than LOU2 (Dina and Ellie’s relationship just feels lifeless to me).
And even the old „what if robots have feelings“ trope takes a new spin if you get the absolute worst ending
If I remember correctly, it is hinted at that the Programmer was kicked out of the company so he purposely programmed Markus to go rogue, so the Android uprising could get him back into the company. No magical awakening or anything like that, it’s just a businessman taking a calculated risk to get into the good graces of the public eye and his company again.

As I recall, the vast majority of the buddy cop stuff with Conner(like the “I like dogs” bit and whatnot) was actually improvised by the actors and Cage hated it.

So there’s that.

Oh wow, funny how exactly those are the most beloved scenes from the fanbase. I guess Cage hit lightning in a bottle by casting actual good actors.

Nope, the script was all Cage. Connor and Mr Krabs WANTED to improvise but Cage wouldn't allow it.

David Cage was also pissed off that the actor who played Connor's favourite line was 'I like dogs'

So the church was originally a church as it is in real life because they mapped an actual portion of Seattle. Drekmann however had to have Dina talk about the Holocaust and how special her people were for being constantly attacked.

And this is why I say that people like this Bugman aren't actual practicing Jews, He doesn't even know the difference between a Christian Church and a Jewish Synagogue. His entire idea was probably "Just scan a Church and put that stuff my Grandfather talked about in there."

SOG taking back his opinion right after dunkey bitched is pretty weak
It's ok if you changed your mind and liked it more than you expected, but alot of people who "changed their mind" go on and on about dunkey more than the game
I've been seeing quite a few YouTubers do this, it just comes off as trying to appease this manchild's hissyfit which encourages him to continue throwing his fanbase at people when he's mad since it's clearly working
Can't you just say changed your mind and liked it without gushing about dunkey?
SOG isnt as bad as others I've seen, but I haven't heard of dunkey in years and now suddenly everyone's making a video sucking his dick
SOG is a pussy that backtracks whenever he gets the slightest pushback against his opinions.

The worst bit, to me at least, is all the back-patting among the woke crowd.

"See! We told you it was a good game. You nasty useless goober-gatorz!"

Ugh, the smug is off the charts

The game is amazing... or so I heard... on Twitter... from people who can't afford to buy it because cat food is pricey.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a bunch of improvised dialogue to make it into the final product if Cage hated it. Especially with the corresponding programming that would need to be done for those scenes and dialogue trees.

I've never seen any French director allow for ad libbing as it'd ruin the "art" of what they wanted to portray. Which is fine.

You definitely don't want a Paul Feig situation....

Gotta love how the game tries to make you feel bad or sour your opinion of Ellie because she murders a pregnant Mel.

The way the entire WLF crew became the eager spectators of Abs' slow torture and murder of Joel like the goddamn Roman Colosseum cheering at the lions, it literally makes EVERY SINGLE MEMBER completely and irreversibly irredeemable as they were fully complicit in every single second of it.

But because one of these is pregnant we're supposed to be "sympathetic" and "questioning of our protagonist going evil". Fuck no, if anything she and Owen deserved worse, like Nora getting her skull bashed in after daring to insult Joel at gunpoint just to rub salt in the wound. Reminds me of Soy Wars wanting us to root for Kylo fucking Ren and worse, becoming Reylos, after he mercilessly killed Han Solo, an universally-loved icon and pretty much a sacred deity in the pantheon of pop culture that had earned that position after 35 years of a fandom celebrating Star Wars.

Well guess what, Reylos are weird.
Ngl, i laughed
Especially given how Ellie has just murdered tons of people already, many of which were women who could've been in the early stages of pregnancy themselves. But no, this is what makes her breakdown.

On another note, been watching streamers play through the game. I gotta say, this game looks unbelievably boring. Like, there's almost no sense of pacing or rhythm to anything, and it's padded out to an insane degree with tons of areas where you do absolutely nothing other than walk through samey looking buildings gathering the same types of resources. It literally feels like the first game with nothing new added aside from the ability to jump like a half inch.

And this is what passes for a 10/10 nowadays?
It feels weird seeing ellie traumatized killing mel and nora. In the first game it made sense because she was 14 and she never killed anyone until joel nearly drowned and during the winter segment, she was up against David, a cannibal and implied pedophile who nearly choked her to death so her being traumatized than made sense. They only revealed mel being pregnant as soon as ellie killed her and why are most of the femald characters ugly as hell?

Update:

Mrs. and I got to the Abby parts. She is actively mocking the game and writers now. It's a thing of beauty. I've never had her actively hate play and mock a game before.

My fav moment is when Abby spews out the "you wasted it" line in the theater.

Mrs: "You don't get to decide who lives and who dies you fucking self-righteous cunt. Oh wait, that's what the soy-boy secret sex pest writer thinks makes the game 'deep'."

The games a disaster but goddamn I gotta say I'm enjoying her ragging on it. Half the fun will be watching pissed off playthroughs of people who expected a good game.

The normie streamer I followed has finished the game, and he liked it. He got real quiet during the ugly parts of the story and said something afterward about having to "process" it, but it was a definite thumbs up. He liked the world and the gameplay and I believe just decided not to think about the story too hard. He's looking forward to the multiplayer. I wonder if there will be one.

It's nasty and painful, so that must mean it's deep and grown up, right?

I sat through the whole thing with him, with a little judicious fast-forwarding during the long walking scenes, and I didn't like it. Abby was such an asshole I don't even believe they were trying to make her relatable by forcing you to play her for hours. I think that was a "fuck you, fanboys" plain and simple. The story was a mess, particularly the ending, which just felt sloppy and ill-thought-out.

I have to admit, though, it was beautiful. And yes, that matters a lot to me. Not enough to give money to someone like Druckmann (and I don't have a console anyway), but I look forward to the graphic advances reaching other, better written games.

You think Neil is sitting there, all sad at what we are writing haha XD

Rather than having an actual synagogue used (there's one less than 10 minutes drive from Century Link Field) they repurposed a church to have The Nose ramble about how persecuted her people are... in a merciless world in which she might be the only Jewish family left for a few thousand miles.

Brilliant writing. As always.

His stuff is always entertaining, even when it falls down (Indigo Prophecy/Farenheit) the story for LTOU II is really making me want to sit down and properly play some of his later works now, like Become Human.

So the total collapse of human civilization happened before Dina and Ellie were even born right? It's literally all they've known. The world has been like this for 25 years. How much could Dina realistically know about WW2 and world history? A quarter of a century is a long time for the world to go without formal education or the internet. And even if people can find books on history many of the people who knew how to use and teach that knowledge probably had their brains eaten by fungus. The average Joe just knows about the Holocaust as some Big Bad Thing that happened but couldn't tell you much of the real details. It would almost be like mythology to someone like Dina.

Which would be an interesting angle but I'm sure not what was intended.
