I'll also wait for SC to be out before considering this, but I can't deny it's looking pretty good.I don't like spamming earth wall every fight. Or arts.
Maybe a controversial take but the battle system only got better with each game to me.
Also, I think the point of this remake is to attract new players to the series and it really pisses me off that Kondo is not marketing it. He's still sticking to his "word of mouth" strategy which is STUPID. The game looks great so far. I've been burned by remakes already but this one I don't see any glaring issues from the get go like I saw in Persona 3 reload or FF7R.
So I deluded myself that this will be the one good one. Because it will be!
Definitely; the crafts are pretty boring in the Sky games, but started getting more variety in their effects. I think by the latter half of the Cold Steel arc, the games give you so many systtems to completely break battles apart, that there's barely any challenge.Maybe a controversial take but the battle system only got better with each game to me.
Yeah, the Sky Trilogy doesn't play nearly bad enough to warrant needing a remake. It'd be like remaking Final Fantasy 6. It already plays real good, and the story is exactly what I want it to be, as is. I feel like Falcom just doesn't have the confidence to take the story forward, so they're just doing what they can to stay afloat.
God, wouldn't it be horrible if they resurrected this idea again like 12 years later? Who on earth would even consider it? Good thing it didn't happen.I agree that dungeon design is pretty shit. There aren't secrets or any interaction, is just a long hallway that you occasionally break off from to go to a chest, get jumped by the monster inside rinse and repeat. Another nitpick that annoys me is the book collectibles atleast in FC and SC. How the fuck am i supposed to know that at a very specific part of the game i have to backtrack and talk to some random, unassuming npc just so that she randomly gives me one of the books. On a first run is annoying. On subsequent playthrough is just tedious.
One of the things that bothered me about the Sky trilogy was that the overhead camera really restricted the way they could show off the world. I remember there was a scene where Bestelle and Joshua were by the lakeside talking about how pretty the view was, but they never move the camera down so you're stuck looking at the floor. Crossbell games improved on the issue by moving the camera down on certain paths for some nice panoramic shots of the temples and fields. Something I'm looking forward to in the Sky remake is to actually be able to take in the sights these characters were talking about back when I was playing on the PS Vita. The game looks great so far. Good point, it remains to be seen if they put in the effort for a minor scene like that though. I mean Rean and Alisa were mesmerized by the trees in Trista back in CS1 and I don't recall that looking very good. So far I've seen most of the effort go into the character animations. Environments are hit or miss. One of the things that bothered me about the Sky trilogy was that the overhead camera really restricted the way they could show off the world.
