The Legend of Heroes Series - Possibly The Most Underrated JRPG Series

Sooooooooo................. this just popped up on the Epic Games Store.

Yeah and EGS has the delayed release date it seems, it's sounding like it's coming to Playstation way before it hits EGS. It also looks like that Falcom is dropping the 1 title a year thing since they're older games and we'll be getting consecutive releases within the same year.

I think today is supposed to be the big announcement and the reveal of the upcoming TV series.

there's updates

Ok so Geofront is officially partnered with NIS/NISA and Falcom. It's sounds like they're going to go further back and do the pre-trails Legend of Heroes games, maybe all the way back to Dragon Slayer since Konami isn't dead anymore and also put out the original rom for TG16 mini/PC Engine Mini.

We're getting all the Trails of games in new formats. Sky will be re-released by NISA, the NISA/Falcom partnership is now eternal.

2022 for first Azure game everything else in 2023

Basically Falcom is centering all this stuff to time it around the launch of the anime series in the west.

Right now they're just playing all the Falcom Music ever.

Where did they mention re-releasing anything other than Crossbell and bringing Nayuta and Trails into Reverie to the West? There's nothing on NISA's twitter about it and the subreddit has nothing about the Sky re-releases either.

Towards the end of the stream after the band played they mentioned bringing the Sky re-releases over because NISA will be handling all their currently upcoming games.

Nayuta is still unreleased, and it apparently the first of a few of the older titles getting a remaster of sorts. I mean they hope to go all the way back but I think that's sales dependent.

Which games are which? Like at least one is 3D like Ys and Cold Steel and Azure is Sprite based right?

Welp. Here's to hoping the Crossbell and Reverie games will be released onto GOG as well, other than Steam and EGS. 🙏
It makes me wonder just how soon the Xseed stuff will be pulled down. There's nothing about their current status you can really pull up. But I imagine stuff like Ys Books 1 and 2, Ys Seven, YS Oath, and Ys Memories of Celceta won't remain with them either.

The Switch was supposed to get Cold Steel 1 and 2 in the US but they fucked that up and the PS4 copies of the definitive editions are now in the triple digits due to a small run number. Other regions are getting them however. I'd imagine NISA would need to retranslate them since Xseed owns the rights to it's own translation.

Does the pink haired nun show up? I was pleasantly surprised to see her appear in CS4 eating lmao

Coming to GOG. Listed on the official sites for each game. Rejoice.

Haven't seen much on the meme nonsense Geofront did aside from the bit you guy posted a couple pages back, but I hope NISA cleans that shit up when they do their pass over the script.

The release dates are farther out than I was hoping, but at least it's something. Who the fuck knows when we'll get Kuro though.

Lol are the meme references bad?

I'm enjoying Cold Steel IV. Just got Rean back. From what I've seen people prefer III over IV, II, and I? Tbh my favorites would be II, IV, I, III.

Idk i just love the other students like Margherita, Beryl, Rosine, etc. I know people adore New Class 7 over the originals. Idk. I like the old class better. Emma, Fie, Sara, etc.

The newest game that includes almost every playable character from the series how is that game? Is that one of the ones we are getting (I heard something about loot boxes for character scenarios or something?)

A few examples of why some aren't happy with the Geofront translation.

Nobody on the team is (was) fluent in Japanese.

Recently decided to replay Cold Steel 3 and 4 so happy to see more of the series is coming over. Played a bit of the first Crossbell game so i'm looking forward to playing both. Know the gist of what happened in the story but playing it is a different experience then reading a summery. Don't know much about the other games but I kind of like that going in blind. Having to wait for a year for Cold Steel 4 after beating 3 was a test of patience knowing I could look up 4 spoilers at any time.
