Looks to me like their web site is made by AI, I wouldn't be sure the distro itself isn't either.Obarun Linux
Don't they use discord and have some anime girl as the default wallpaper? I remember wanting to try wayland out, friend recommended me hyprland and it completely turned me away. On a usability note: Why does everything nowadays have to move around and make sounds?? DWM is still the best WM from a usability perspective, none of that obnoxious chrome than only gets in your way!Hyprland
Not sure about "best" as that is going to be individual, but it's what I usually recommend and I've heard no complaints. Although one guy chose to jump straight into gentoo and loves it LOL! Good thing about the linuxes is that you can easily try a live boot USB and play around for a bit before installing (or choosing a different distro). Is Mint still the best distro for people coming from Windows?
Huh. Apparently I'm not using quad9 either, even though I changed my IPv4 properties months ago. That's a bit concerning. Thought it might have been my VPN, but turning it off didn't fix the issue. Good thing Proton has a DNS included.I went to https://on.quad9.net/ and it said I wasn't using quad9, though I entered the IP address listed into the Firefox preferences.
wat
Firefox is using your system DNS, which is presumably set by your router. You can change that in the router settings.I went to https://on.quad9.net/ and it said I wasn't using quad9, though I entered the IP address listed into the Firefox preferences.

Does uBlock block sites with scumware on them as well as block ads?Firefox is using your system DNS, which is presumably set by your router.
Yes, but you shouldn't rely on that exclusively.Does uBlock block sites with scumware on them as well as block ads?
I need to figure out how to use Quad9 then.Yes, but you shouldn't rely on that exclusively.
They've been around since 2015/16 so I don't think that's the case. The art on their homepage is definitely AI, but the distro itself is a tiny, but seemingly legit project. Will see for myself soon enough.Looks to me like their web site is made by AI, I wouldn't be sure the distro itself isn't either.
Checked and it also said no, event though I have Quad9 set pretty much everywhere; apparently an update reset my resolv.conf to Google DNS. Changed that and now it says yes, so I guess some queries were leaking.I went to https://on.quad9.net/ and it said I wasn't using quad9, though I entered the IP address listed into the Firefox preferences.

How do I change that in Firefox?resolv.conf
On a normal computing system, there is a file, resolv.conf, which will be in the /etc/ directory on any Unix system, BSD, Mac OS, or Linux, or somewhere in C:\windows\system32\drivers\config\etc\didwegetto255charsyet on a Windows system, which gives a list in descending order of DNS servers to use for lookups and some other shit (like default 'suffixes' if you just use a single domain name without a dot). How do I change that in Firefox?
idk try looking into Cdidwegetto255charsyet
I would have guessed that the Windows champions would have been the GAC_MSIL/other shit with several different GUIDs in the path, but it turns out they managed to go even more retarded:idk try looking into CWindows\WinSxS, that one's closer to 255 characters than the "where the fuck do we put this Unix networking crap in NT" path.
OK.. That's not COMPLETELY unreasonable, I guess. The longest path on a clean install of Windows XP is 152 characters.
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSAS-1-5-18d42cc0c3858a58db2db37658219e6400_89e7e133-abee-4041-a1a7-406d7effde91
Every user gets a file/directory in their home directory which has two blank GUIDs in it. A folder that 99% of Windows applications won't be able to touch on account on its length exceeding that which most Windows filesystem APIs can handle. AMAZIN'. And that's even before Windows 10 & 11.The longest path on a semi-clean install of Windows 8.1 is 273 characters:
c:\Users\wumpus-home\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\Microsoft\Windows Store\Cache\0\0-Namespace-https???services.apps.microsoft.com?browse?6.2.9200-1?615?en-US?c?US?Namespace?pc?00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000?00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.
The reason it was necessary to fork didn't have much to do with that specifically, at least as far as I know. I feel like people aren't understanding what my point is when I said that earlier. Its not about what they actually meant when they said non dei. It's about how that will be used against the project. I feel like people on this site, and probably people in this thread specifically should know what I mean by that. I think coc shit is gay and bad, (though really. CoC's aren't actually a big deal. The actual issue is how they're used.)Isn't that more or less what's happening? This isn't an attempt to re-write X11 from scratch, just to get some changes in. That this goes against "the agenda" is why it was necessary to fork it. Unless I've missed it, there no requirement to actually be anti-troon.
Gnu is probably a fringe case, because it has its own purity death spiral over (for lack of a better word) "freeness".
Gaps waste a bit of space but give a less cluttered look.I find it the most ergonomic when I'm doing development stuff, but with something like a file or web browser open, I find it a lot less comfortable to use, and the clashing of styles between different programs is a lot more noticeable.
Am I getting filtered or is there something I could do about this? I do genuinely like it when I have just a bunch of terminals and an editor open.
workspace-back-and-forth to something convenient like Mod-Tab. There's also a command to jump to the next window of a particular app.Sir, this is the Linux thread. The arguments I've seen in this thread on the wayland vs xorg debate, are some of the most retarded I've come across on the subject. I can't tell if people are just pretending to be retarded to try to make the other person mad. I hope so for everyone's sake. It's sad otherwise.
Coming into a Kiwi Farms thread about linux and being upset to find retards is like going into a bar and being upset they serve booze. The arguments I've seen in this thread on the wayland vs xorg debate, are some of the most retarded I've come across on the subject.
