Arch and it's derivatives are for people who's hobby is using Linux.

It literally serves to fill the same spot as gaming does for other people. Nothing wrong with that, but it really irks me whenever they it gets mentioned as a recommendation for people who are just trying to get away from Windows.

Its not for experienced users, it's not for power users, it's only for people who's entire hobby is messing around with Linux.

Everyone else who just needs Linux to be an OS is better served with Mint or Debian if they want KDE or Gnome, or Fedora if you're a troon.

Gnome is for troons. If you recommend it to someone who has never used Linux before they will go back to Windows

I agree, but if you're coming from Apple I believe Debian with Gnome is a more usable experience than Fedora. Though you might as well just use Ubuntu at that point.

KDE is a lot better than GNOME if you're coming from Mac.

You'll want to install all three of these to have working audio in Arch, although you can probably use pulse or alsa if you really want to.

also might be worth checking whats up in pavucontrol if it's available on your system, it should work with pipewire-pulse
has solved many issues for me
 
I'm posting here from my pc running Linux Mint. Everything seems to be working just fine, but there is a little bit of a learning curve. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that gave me advice.

It's not as perfect as it once was, but I remember using Mac OS X based themes with Enlightenment WM back in the mid 2000s. Was sick AF. Really the main thing missing was global menu bars.

Something which later received more support... before the Gnome cunts sabotaged it by moving towards Wayland and implementing global menus only through their own, proprietary, Wayland protocol.

I get your point but I choose OnlyOffice due to similarity in visuals to MS Office.
Linux Mint so far seems adequate to things that are mostly done on PC's in my working space. Had a little hurdle with connection with NAS and BetterBird that didn't liked to attach files from remote desktop but I overcome that.

If someone could tell me a good ersatz for Adobe Reader Pro to edit .pdf files that would be great. I found Master PDF Editor 5 which does the work but asks 50 EUR for deleting watermark in edited files. I was wondering is there any free app solution for this.

My system has Wayland libs because every year or so I try Hyprland again and see what's still broken, so I don't often notice Wayland stuff being pulled in.

I have heard good things about StirlingPDF but it might be a bit heavier (although compared to Adobe.. maybe not) than what you are after.

I've never understood this sentiment. Just because the steps to do something are listed on the Arch Wiki doesn't mean you have to do it. There are better distros if your hobby is non-stop modification of your system. NixOS, Guix, Gentoo etc. My Arch-based setup (Artix btw) last saw a tweak more than two months ago.
