With how Windows 11 is going I just jumped ship to Linux Mint and it's already having some issues like my second monitor not working. If this persists what other oses should I try?

Bazzites discord server is the worst linux discord server out there

You made three critical mistakes, homie.

a) Running a Fedora derivative, and a "gaming" rebuild of Fedora Silverblue at that, instead of mainline Fedora.
b) Joining any Linux-themed Discord server.
c) Expecting people who run, maintain, or otherwise authored hyper-specialised, overengineered rubbish to be capable of normal conversation.

Flatpaks are the only way you can realistically get stuff on Fedora Silverblue and its derivatives without invoking rpm-ostree. If you have a raging hateboner toward Flatpaks, then "atomic" Linux distributions are hardly the appropriate solution. Just bite the bullet, install Fedora KDE, then crack your knuckles and start setting up RPM Fusion yourself. If you need extra software, odds are that there's a COPR repository for you. Plain, old Fedora ain't sexy, it ain't as nice on a fresh install as Nobara or Bazzite, but I would argue that the extra control is worth the minor sacrifices to OOTB convenience. It also has the added benefit of a much larger, far more public-facing community than Nobara and Bazzite's ilk have.

Noticed that all of these types of people use Arch for some reason.

This is such a weird thing to ponder, but the Arch "community" as it is now feels starkly different to the way it was 12-13 years ago. When I was in high school using Arch for the first time, all the Arch dudes on the forums, the subreddit, even the IRC channels I ran for help in, they were all in their 40s and 50s. Arch's 10th birthday in 2012 had a ton of overly sentimental comments about first installing Arch Linux off floppies across Reddit and YouTube. There wasn't so much a "ricing" scene for Arch, so much as there was a "hey, I'm using Openbox with a really nice theme and some abstract vector graphic wallpaper!" scene. Some old fogies were even flexing about never using X11 and instead posted blurry phone camera shots of a monitor running irssi. Looking at the Arch "community" nowadays... it's almost all fucking MTF trannies in their early-to-mid 20s, maybe very early 30s, and they have no fucking memory of what Arch Linux was like back when /etc/rc.conf was a thing because they weren't yet using Arch (btw).

a) Do you have an NVIDIA graphics card? For me, using AMD, dual monitor support @ 1080p is seamless. If your second monitor's acting a bit naff, hit your start menu and look up "Driver" to find the 1-click driver install tool. That's usually a good first step.

b) If it turns out you already have the NVIDIA drivers installed, look up "Linux Mint NVIDIA $model_of_GPU_here" on Google, Bing, or whatever to find any appropriate Linux Mint forum posts. Even if there's no second monitor, there might be another issue with a possible workaround you can try implementing.

c) You're already on the best noob-friendly Linux distribution, homie. Try to tough it out on Linux Mint, have a decent bit of patience, and remember: if you're already on a fresh installation of Linux Mint, you're able to boot, and most things are working barring one or two things, you should be able to fix that problem.

Yeah I do have nivida but I was more asking in a general sense what a good fallback plan would be.

Fallback plan would arguably be "troubleshoot on Linux Mint to the best of your ability without turning it into a chore or bashing your head against the wall" -> "I dunno, MX Linux or something?" Keep us posted on how the 1-click driver install works out for ya.

I messed with drivers a little to no avail. Tomorrow I'll try to disable secure boot to see if it helps.

I think it's because of how easy ABS and AUR make it to create and publish packages for Arch. Any time someone decides to rewrite a program that works perfectly fine for no reason, Arch is the first (and likely only) distro to get it packaged, which then attracts all the people who chase the shiny new things. This sets up a loop, where when those people make another useless ricing helper, they publish it in AUR immediately, and the loop repeats. You can see this pattern in r/unixporn, where every OC post is "I made yet another color scheme generator for GTK, but this time it's in 🚀Rust🦀" and "Here's my cool widget toolkit optimised for Niri (please ignore that I posted the same thing for Hyprland a month ago and have since abandoned it)!", and the installation instructions are just yay -S nigfag.
I wish all the best to NixOS or whatever the current cool thing is, so that all of them fuck off there.

The only people that will go to nix, are

A. People that are working on something complex enough to benefit from the tools that it provides, and competent enough that dealing with things in their functional language, and working around nix's unique way of doing things isn't something that makes the task take much longer, and much more difficult than it would have been.

B. people autistc enough, and obsessed enough with chasing the next new toy that they it doesn't matter that they are wasting all their time writing flakes/configs. Instead of just being able to use the software.

It's not really a middle ground distro in any sense. Even if people try it because they see all the nix trannies talking about how good it is. It's not likely most will stick around on it.

What exactly did you do? What exact Nvidia card do you have? If you don't give any information, you won't get any useful help.
I mean tbf I wasn't exactly looking for help in that regard more just recommendations for oses if I don't like this one. But I tried using a few different drivers in the nivida driver app. Next time I mess with it I'll disable secure boot.

Probably because Arch is the perfect midwit distro. It's complicated enough to install compared to something like Debian that you can brag about being "smarter", but also easy enough that you can do it even if you're a retard, unlike something like Gentoo that requires more mental capacity to be able to setup. Add to the fact that a lot of people use (or want to use) Linux only to have the Dunning-Kruger Mt. Stupid bragging rights and you have a recipe for disaster that is the Linux community: the most insufferable collective of the biggest idiots that convinced themselves they know shit about fuck. Good luck wading knee-deep through shit to find the handful of people that do know shit about fuck and aren't complete cunts about it. Usually those people also have expansive knowledge of Windows NT as they actually use computers and don't stick to some autistic ideological extremism when it comes to them.

>What is this diddyblud doing on the terminal is blud Richard stallman?

If you have a raging hateboner toward Flatpaks,
Look I don't hate flatpaks But I also don't think its a one and all solution for ALL programs.

Computers are not phones and the apps used need permissions that sometimes flatpaks can not provide.

I dont HATE flatpaks and acknologe they have done alot of GOOD. But I think that it depends on what app your using. I know thats the most lukewarm take of all time but yeah.

Is Bazaar out of its pre-alpha state? Nope. (Archived)

But it has pride flags now! :wow:

Oh nononono Linuxisters, not like this... it was supposed to be the Wincucks that get forced pride flags... (:_(
>niche "app store" for gnome vs practically unremovable flag directly on the windows task bar

Come on, man.

Right click > search bar > off, no more pride flag. "Practically unremovable" is what you'd love to believe though, no?
Having to disable functionality to get rid of an unwanted visual feature is practically unremovable, yes.

And still, you're comparing this to a niche package manager for a single desktoop environment that isn't even out of alpha. Disingenuous doesn't even begin to cover it.

Disingenuous doesn't even begin to cover it.
Likewise. Did you know that on Windows you have a choice to install a better searchbar that actually finds your files and doesn't force any pride flags onto you? I'm sure that this is also bad because you have to install third party software to have choice which for some reason is now bad because uhh, Windows?

I don't know, either learn how to stop moving the goal post and be humble when you're on the receiving end or don't be so smug all the time when someone dares to poke the fun at you for a change.

Bazarr is so bad I Originally asked them why I cant use it for more than 3 minutes wtihout it crashing on my top of the line system and they closed my issue. Like its one of the WORST pieces of software ive ever used for a app store. its literally UNUSABLE, like it does not work.

The software works for most users. You will not report that it is not working stalker child. You will cease this slanderous posting or you will enjoy prison.
