I'll have to try that. I made mayo a long time ago with a regular blender and with a two-beater style hand mixer. The end results were good, but I couldn't get it to emulsify without adding mustard.
Use a little mustard, then. One egg, a spoonful of mustard, a bit of vinegar, a bit of salt, and then start to blend it, adding more liquid oil/grease in portions until it reaches the right consistency. With a stick blender, it takes about one minute.

I've done it with freshly-rendered, still-warm bacon grease before. You simply cannot get anything as good off a shelf, especially for something like a potato salad.

I've recently discovered that mayo and ranch mixed together makes a pretty nice, smooth dipping sauce for hot foods, both temperature and taste. So far I've only tried that basic mix, but I plan to experiment as able. Anyone tried it and have suggestions?

I finally got dukes. I honestly cant' tell the difference between it and great value.

I just started trying mayonnaise again after 30 years. Got food poisoning as a child thanks to a tuna and mayo sandwich gone bad (thanks paki shop) so that shit was my kryptonite for years.

McCormick is my favorite brand of mayonnaise. It goes really well with seafood such as shrimp and sierra.

That would be good. It also justifies a little more mayo, mabey of a chipotle persuasion.

If you have a stick/immersion blender, there is no reason to ever purchase mayonnaise in the jar ever again. It is very easy and fast to make your own mayo that's better than anything you can get off the shelf in a supermarket.

If you must get mayo off the shelf, though, Duke's is the way to go.
I fucking hate store bought mayo but homemade is delicious. I use my immersion blender multiple times a week for all sorts of things.

I do something similar with mayonnaise + a thick hot sauce like El Yucateco or Gator. Really goes well with fries, kind of like a fry sauce but without the sweetness of ketchup.

Mayonnaise, paprika and hot mustard is a good combo too.
