the merits of throwing quarters at the monkey to make him dance

Throwing money at Phil in the hope he explodes is detractor gacha.

Yes! It's basically the sweaty wrestling doods game for detractors lol. Except more gouty and less graphically pleasing for the straight dood Philburt.

It depends. I don't see the harm in chucking him 2$ or whatever occasionally to have him say something goofy. If 2$ is a meaningful amount of money in your life you have worse problems to be worrying about then the ethics of tipping twitch streamers. People who spam him with donations and go through the effort of chargebacks and shit are pretty stupid though.

At the same time, I don't really understand people who try and take some kind of moral high ground about people tipping phil. If phil really makes your blood boil that bad then why even watch his streams. I've always seen phil as being in the same tier of internet curiosity as chris-chan and don't really understand why people have raging hate boners for him.

Imho, this isn't about taking a moral high ground. For me, the regular tipping takes away from the only thing that matters here, which is fun and shitshow. I'm not sperg enough not to realise that.

But obviously it does make me feel bad enough to warrant a comment, but that's because I live in the part of the world (Eastern Europe) where money is sparse and actual hardworking people are barely getting by. So pick one I guess.

The problem isnt that people give him money to set him off or troll him. It's that 99% aren't funny or good at it. Leave it to the professionals like snowkarl
lol the snowkarl thing is a great example. Caused a massive butthurt rant and literally all it took was a series of innocent suggestions/questions.

There was also a Minecraft stream he did recently where he exploded over people asking him questions about wingsofredemption in chat. Even when phil is EXTREMELY reluctant to share his opinion on something, he literally can't help himself if he's goaded for long enough and he has a strong opinion on the topic.

But snowkarl cheered to get some of those reactions.

Tevin has stated multiple times he does not condone anyone giving Phil money.
Sure. But he does enable and encourage it.

I 100 percent agree with actually and Co that he is way more funny when he is desperate, and wish he'd get no tips, however, it's not going to happen.

The amount of kahntributions directly corrolate to how many people are watching him, on his stream or on restreams.

We can condemn it all we like, but people will give him money for attention for as long as there are daily vids and streams dedicated to reacting to him.

I don't support Troll donations but I admit are good if you want to:
  • keep DSP afloat to continue the milking
  • get attention from your own circle of e-friends
  • get the occasional proper response
DSP would have possibly gave up his current streamer job if it wasn't for the attentions haters and trolls gave him. Which is good on one hand if you want more content out of him. Phil just silently having a job somewhere doesn't provide the endless source of raw footage that his detractors can process into funny material*. Of course on the other hand you are basically enabling him having a lifestyle far above what he could seriously achieve. If you really hate the guy, why put him into his dream NEET job?

* I personally wouldn't be surprised if he kept up his vlogging habits even if he had a normal job. Where he would complain about his job, customers and coworkers. Which would land him a quick trip to unemployment and even worse employment opportunities.

The second point is obvious. But can we even consider it trolling? DSP will just go like "yeah dood, whatever" while the guy making the donation will get his "hi mom" moment. I think people donating, even for trolling purposes help him stay afloat and basically enable other people to donate even more. As far as I see e-begging is a weird mix of wanting to help out a cause or guy and basically signalling to each other about liking the same things. It's more of an example of the weird symbiotic relationship lolcows and their haters have.

For the last point that's rare. Sure if you are a good troll it's just a tool like any other, but trolling is an art. Most people are bad at it and just pretend to be good by virtue of being stubborn. DSP pretty much got used to troll donations. He is not smart when it comes to longer term life decisions, but he can notice patters happening on a daily basis all day, every day. For it to be a good troll it should make the target act in a specific way. A message in bad faith or tired spam is basically noise and will help him just rally his own supporters to back him up.

It's no different than giving 5 dollars to a homeless bum and saying "Bob, do that thing I like" and then he sighs and does a song and dance. You laugh and give him five dollars. You repeatedly do this and you're already out 50 bucks. I would think the shtick of him doing it gets old. Eventually you become a regular to him and you become a PWDubz, someone that he just tolerates but still does what you want him to.

The bum could take the money tell you to go fuck yourself and you're out five dollars.

Either way, if you want to give him money that is fine, I certainly won't, but if you chargeback and lose that dispute you deserve to lose every penny.

I 100% agree with everything you wrote.

But ever since I am working from home due to the quarantine, I've been watching Phil at least for a good 15-20 mins almost every day, because all sports and real life events are cancelled, which has made me realize that even if I'd spent like a pwdubz (like what, 5 dollars a day?), it'd still have been cheaper than had I gone to the pub, watched football games (50-60 bucks a month) or gone out 3 times in a month. That made me somewhat question myself and stop caring about people wasting money on Phil, because I realized I spend way more on much, much fewer hours of entertainment myself, usually.

Still agree with your sentiment, I just think that for most people that usually hang out as daily regulars on Phil's stream - it's one of the few social outlets, some of them genuinely do require attention, something tipping (as utterly sad as it might be) can serve to fulfill.

It's not an accident that a very real majority of Phil's big whales are literal autists. They can't function socially in normal settings and paying for it, whether they be detractors or genuine fans, allows them to feel special. Just as others have said; the way Phil himself whales out on WWE Champs to get attention from his guild/club.

If you're gonna troll tip, chargeback.

Good way of sorting this thread out.
"If you have to commit a crime to fuck with a lolwcow (chargeback fraud) you are a lolcow" -Null
If someone gives DSP money, whether paypig or troll, they are a fan of the DSP cinematic universe. Being dissatisfied that he didn't sperg out because you called him a horsefucker for a dollar just means you have gamblers remorse.

My 2 cents, giving DSP money to troll him is dumb, even if it is just a dollar or something. Even when it gets a funny reaction, I'd argue you could probably get that same reaction by just being in his chat. We know he reads chat, and he often lacks the self control not to comment on things. If people still want to chuck quarters at him, eh, whatever, that's their decision. I think what made it annoying is when people started doing it for attention outside of Phil's chat, especially since those people were often the generic ones who were unfunny. I'm talking about the people that post things like "I cheered $5 and called Phil a nigger. He didn't even read it and just banned me, what a bitch."

The thing with the funny cheers is they naturally get posted by other people, or the DSP reactions get clipped and put here. I'd also argue some of the more effective cheers work because they are framed in a way to mimic his actual supporters and are, for lack of a better term, subtle enough to get DSP to read it and go into a rant without just outright ignoring it. I'd still argue you can get this reaction without throwing quarters, but I think they at least work because the person who did it isn't coming here to brag.

How is this even questioned? Idiots who tip pigroach reward his disgusting, arrogant and negative behavior and keep his self-entitled lifestyle afloat. If you insult him, he just calls you a morahn, doesn't read your message and bans you. Now you have the dubious honor of having to fight a chargeback to get the money back you already had by not tipping dickhead in the first place. You gain nothing; you reward a person worth less than nothing, and are too stupid to realize you can just insult the fucker for free, register for a new twitch account using tor or any proxy to get around Twitch's shadowbanning and do it again.

Every paycuck, ironic or not is an autistic piece of shit worthy of scorn and doxing.

I just want to punch Phil in his doughy, chewed wad of a face until there are bones in his stool. Would I pay to do that? Yeah.

I don't think I would pay to have him read a cheer though. Just email him if you wanna talk to him, you know he reads everything he gets sent.

I'll say this every time it comes up. Currently the minimum Phil makes from people who think '$1 (or $2, $3, $5) isn't alot of money and you're a fagot for giving me shit about it' per year is an estimated $7K to $10K. If you are comfortable belonging to the group of people who are paying half of Phil's mortgage to try to force the joke and "trigger" him into a couple 5 minute tantrums per month that's up to you.

One of the conclusions from Phil's bankruptcy numbers is that almost no one was doing charge-backs.
I've personally gotten Phil to throw several tantrums just by @'ing him in chat when he starts looking for handholding. It's not hard, hell you could just get his ♿chat started talking about pizza or the World Cup and he will throw a fit for free

In my book giving Phil money equals a "thank you" and appreciation for his free "work". So if you think he deserves that then you disgust me. The morals you have to have to grant him to touch even a single dollar of yours with his gouty hooves. Has Phil drilled deep enough into troll's brains to make them believe CASH IN HIS POCKET is an effective way to transport a troll's memes?

I'll just follow up with one last thing about giving Pig money: he's been at his most boring in years barring what he did to himself. He spites the viewers on purpose by being as boring as possible to save his pathetic and long beaten ego. The troll tips mean nothing when the well is pretty much dry as is from his "streams" at least.

I'm of the belief that tis better for a cow to fucking implode violently and spectacularly than fade, and Pig's low milk content for sperg posting in this subforum makes me just want him to go full insane and homeless with a repo stream or something.
