Metroid II's a funny case for me in that I really like what it's going for, where you have to descend deeper into the planet as you exterminate all the metroids and eventually you go so far down that the only living things are you and the shrinking number of metroids. That's cool and it reinforces the feeling of isolation that comes with playing Metroid. But for me, the limitations of the Game Boy and the lack of features such as a map really hold it back. Every area looks the same, and it's real easy for me to get lost. And I find much of the music somewhat grating after a while.
I really wanna like it and every now and then I'll give it another shot, but it just hasn't clicked with me.
