I bet you, dollars to donuts, Kraft is pulling some insider politics to keep Belichick out until he's in first, because that man's pettiness knows no bounds.
Oh I'm like 100% sure that's what it is.

Yeah his career fell apart (well that's putting it nicely, actually it just covered itself in gasoline and lit itself on fire) but so did Don Shula's. Shouldn't be a knock against his historic resume.

Bill should be a first ballot HOFer and everyone knows that. The problem with Bill is he is one the biggest colossal cunts in the history of the NFL Unless you're one of his nuthugging cronies like Mike Lombardi (unrelated to Vince) or Joe Judge, nobody can fucking stand the sight of Belichick, it's why he hasn't gotten a HC job in the NFL. IIRC Kraft said after he fired Bill he wanted to get control of his team back, because Bill basically did everything and for over a decade had the smallest staff in the league. Belichick's a great coach, but the dude has an ego the size of the Grand Canyon, and he acts like a petty, petulant spoiled child when he doesn't get his way. Should that mean he shouldn't get in the HOF? Of course not, but I think that somewhat explains it.

Bill didn't get a job in the NFL because his former employer is telling other teams not to hire him. The Falcons were about to hire him instead of Raheem Morris in 2024 before Kraft made a personal appeal to Arthur Blank. It's not a coincidence the same year he released a documentary where he tried to take credit for the whole dynasty and minimized Belichick's role in the Patriots success as much as humanly possible, while bemoaning that he hadn't been inducted into the HOF himself yet.

Don't let the pair of butthurt Colts staffers and their lickspittles in the media successfully run interference to think this snub wasn't about Kraft continuing to inflate his legacy and continue whatever vendetta he developed against this man the instant Tom Brady finally left town and won a ring on a super team outside of New England.

What's the point in having a hall of fame if they aren't judging by how they impacted the game? Like just forget the whole thing, Fucking Lawrence Taylor raped a 16 year old and he's in it, so is OJ Simpson. The whole fucking point of the hall of fame I thought was to leave all the bullshit outside of the game!

Perhaps the MLB isn't aberrant in how shitty it's HOF is, it's just ahead of schedule because the league has 50 years on the other three.

Oh trust me I'm not team Kraft on this. I think Kraft sneakily is one of the cheapest owners in the league, and doesn't get called out enough for it. It just so happens that Bill didn't want to pay players either, so they symbiotically each benefitted from the 20+ years, it also helped having the GOAT in Tom Brady who had a complex about people doubting him in high school/college and would take team friendly deals, and other players fell in line. I don't doubt that Kraft told Arthur Blank not to hire Bill, that totally is in line with what I believe about him. Kraft is a gloryhound like Jerry Jones, just look at The Dynasty documentary series you referenced. It was, quite literally, produced by Kraft Productions, and was Kraft propaganda.

All of that being said, Bill should be a first ballot HOF coach, but he's still a gigantic asshole lol.

Don Shula literally wasted Dan Marino's prime. That didn't change his record or impact on the game, which is why he's in. Belichick didn't flame out nearly as hard as Shula was allowed to do (same with Tom Landry). The only real knock on Belichick is Brady leaving was pretty much the end of his success as a head coach.

Bill Belichek will not be a first ballot hall of famer.

If you needed any more evidence that the voters are retarded, this should do it. Imagine not putting the greatest coach of the modern era who dominated the league for 20+ years.
That is fucking insane, even if you're not a patriots fan or have issues with the man you can't deny the accomplishments he had. I don't care if things have been rocky for him in recent years, that man played a big role in the Patriots 2000s dynasty and getting them to countless super bowls and super bowl wins.

Like who is doing the voting? fucking nerds? :stress:

Good for you, Tom. You deserve it.

The voters are usually sports writers who are covering or used to cover the league. The media was despised by Belichek and rightfully so, this could be a retaliation for years of abuse from Belichek. I also have no doubt Kraft played a part in this. He made a whole documentary shitting on Belichek despite how bad of an owner Kraft is.

Has anything like this happened in other sports? Such an accomplished player/coach getting snubbed like this? I don't follow other sports as closely so I wouldn't know.

This also adds to the logjam of head coaches waiting to get into Canton. Holmgren, Coughlin, Shanahan, and Dan Reeves (he deserves it for his whole football career).

LMAO! Maybe a month earlier than my earlier prediction, but still absolutely golden. Clean house once many of the big names have landed and your best hope is getting a motley crew of college coaches to want to try their hand at making the most consistently bad team in the NFL worth a damn. Can't wait to hear Eisen's take on this tomorrow.
I hate this team.gif

If there's an upside to the Vikings moving on from Darnold, it's that his success outside of Minnesota might ramp up media pressure to fire Kwesi, but they would've already done that if they were going to do it this offseason.
Yeah I've been thinking the same thing on that, Kwesi needs to GTFO. I think he has one of the worst drafting hit rates of the last quarter century and we literally always lose on trades he makes. We're also going to be in the bottom 2 or 3 teams next season on cap space... it's looking pretty shit for the Vikings and not sure what to be hopeful for honestly

Dude I don't even like the Patriots and I still think that's total bullshit. He's up there with like Vince Lombardi and Don Shula as some of the all-time greats. It's fair to say at least part of his success was on the back of Tom Brady's insane talent, but it's not like he just didn't contribute to a decade plus of the team's success.

Good for you, Tom. You deserve it.
He really does. I can't help but like the guy. If his "every team reacting to" skits were made by literally anyone else I'd probably think they were the gayest shit ever, but for some unquantifiable reason it just works with him.

Sportwriters are gigantic faggots so this tracks. I'm a Dolphins fan so BB is literally football satan to me and even I know he deserves to be first ballot. It's just because he was notoriously prickly toward sports reporters so they're getting their petty revenge.

It's funny watching Bowles and Glenn drowning in a puddle because the owners don't wanna fire them because they're black and the optics would look bad. Seriously, that's the only reason why those two are allowed to stay and fire their entire coaching staffs.
