Tony Dungy: Hall of Fame Coach, NBC Sports Analyst, and CEO of Homophobia

Busted: NBC analyst and NFL Hall of Famer Tony Dungy called out for homophobia

Tony Dungy is a prominent NFL analyst on NBC who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after a 13-year coaching career that included winning a Super Bowl. And he was a popular player before that.

But as Cyd Zeigler, co-founder of Outsports.com documented in a two-part series this week, “Dungy (is) possibly the most publicly anti-gay person in at least the recent history of the NFL, raising money to fight against same-sex marriage, and since then publicly decrying the homosexuality of gay athletes and partnering with rabidly anti-gay organizations and individuals.”

Zeigler noted that Dungy’s anti-LGBTQ reputation had been well-established before NBC hired him as a primetime analyst. “Through it all, NBC has stood by their man, saying nothing about his anti-LGBT bigotry that he himself has said is rooted in his Christian beliefs. True to form, NBC declined to comment for this story.”

Zeigler’s expose of Dungy was amplified today by John Casey, editor-at-large of the Advocate, in a piece headlined “Tony Dungy and When Someone You Admire Turns Out to Be a Homophobe.”

Casey wrote that the most troubling aspect of Dungy was his friendship with right-wing Christian nationalist Pastor Andrew Wommack, one of the nation’s most vicious anti-LGBTQ haters. He noted that Dungy has even appeared as a speaker at Wommack’s events.

Casey is a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, for which Dungy started his career as a player. But Casey says he’s seen the light.

“I’m dumping Dungy into the dustbin of the NFL's worst-moments history until he apologizes for all the vindictiveness toward me, a devoted Steelers fan, and my community.”

And he added this:

“Dungy will be calling the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars wild-card game on NBC Saturday. As a football fan, I want to watch. But as a gay man, I can’t watch — or listen — if Dungy is broadcasting. I won’t hear the words coming out of his mouth; instead, when he opens his mouth, all I will hear is hate.”

What the hell did we just see?! Absolutley crazy. I feel for Herbert.

Sean Payton is probaby rubbing his hands together about the possibility of coaching Herbert. Staley is probably gonna be fired before stepping onto the plane.

"Walk back to LA, motherfucker."

Also, fuck that loser Cyd Ziegler who didn't even mention in his slampiece that Dungy was the first black head coach to win a Superbowl.

I gurantee Ziegler is one of those losers who only thinks of "BBC" and cuckcolding when he sees a black guy.

Leftists make me puke.

Staley was probably on the hot seat and probably needed to win this to keep his job, the fact that the Chargers choked massively (Something that was on him and choking in general is usually the coaches' fault) so I'd be surprised if we don't get an announcement he's gone before next Sunday.
How did the chargers lose?
Staley's playcalling refusing to run the ball, Trevor stopped throwing picks that gifted the Chargers easy TDs.

The chargers have been improving on paper over the past 2 seasons. They were 9-8 last year and missed out on the playoffs and were 10-7 this year and made the playoffs. Yet if you look past the paper, they choked in their final game last year against the Raiders to miss the playoffs when even a tie got them in. And then this choke against the Jaguars. But idk if getting a new head coach suddenly makes them amazing. They were supposed to be the third or fourth best team in their conference this year but way overperformed. If they don't have a good coach lined up, firing Staley would be the wrong move right now. Wait until they start regressing before firing him (or if Sean Payton says yes to coaching your team)

Honestly, considering the past 2 seasons with Lamar's injuries and possible fake injuries, I would just put some tags on him until he RG3's himself. Then you just rebuild again.

I agree, but they're not going to do that. They're going to overpay Lamar even though he has regressed each year since winning the MVP.

Baltimore's issue isn't the QB though, it's a HC and OC that cannot do simple things like develop WRs, or manage the clock and their timeouts. Harbaugh and Roman have been in the NFL long enough to manage the playclock, but we still have to see Lamar waiting for the playcall with 10 seconds left on the clock every goddamn game.

Sports fans in general are wild when it comes to superstitions. Weird garbo stats like these just reinforce superstitions.
That's why I love these random stats

They tried to overpay him. Lamar didn't want to be overpaid for some reason. I think they just move on from him at this point since nobody wanted to do anything

I would like to thank Brandon Staley and the Chargers for providing a collapse so memorable everyone forgets how my Seahawks just forgot to play football in the 2nd half.
What's the over/under on Staley being gone Monday?

Isn't the sticking point that he wants his contract fully guaranteed?

Trevor Lawrence is still undefeated on Saturdays. Love that this is a stat that people care about

Cincinnati native and Ohio State alum, Sam Hubbard of the Bengals, just returned a 98-yard fumble by Tyler Huntley for the go ahead touchdown in the 4th quarter to give Cincinnati a 24-17 lead. It's a postseason record for the longest fumble return.

All three of today's games have been great. So far the only one of the five playoff games that wasn't was the opener between Seattle and the 49ers (which was exciting until the second half.)

And this is a reminder of why Roman and Harbaugh need to be gone. You're doing a QB run on 3rd and 1? Really? Just put it in Gus's hands and run the fucking football instead of trying to be fucking cute with your INJURED BACK UP QB. Then that last drive? Dink and dunk and make no effort to move the chains more than 5 yards until the last minute of the fucking drive. Wonderful play calling. I had no expectations since I was expecting our 3rd string QB to be playing, but even then this was bad. Harbaugh can't coach up a team to save his life.

While we all complain about the Ravens fucking up, let us not forget that the Vikings were massive frauds this year and were finally exposed. You won a shitty NFC North that was being hidden by the fact the NFC South was even worse. Hopefully both teams can lose monday night because that is all anyone will talk about after this weekend
