In terms of quick turnaround on a mid roster last year, I'd say Vrabel, Johnson are the top candidates.
I'm going to go ahead and put in a homer plug for Mike MacDonald though. Seahawks consistently have depth pieces on defense randomly having player of the week-caliber games like Tyrice Knight or Josh Jobe. Our special teams is probably the best in the league right now. And our WR1 is potentially going to break Megatron's single season receiving record this year. The culture Mike Mac put in started to get buy-in around the middle of last year and it's been off to the races (with some interruption) ever since.

They practice botched snaps where the holder just stands up and takes off while the kicker starts blocking. Basically the same as a fake FG.

No reason to practice this though since it shouldn't happen. In high school it's drilled into your head that if your holder is putting the ball on the ground for you, you need to trust him and go through with the kick. Koo bailed at the last possible moment and just confused the fuck out of everyone.

No reason to practice this though since it shouldn't happen.

I imagine the punter's muscle memory kicked in, but it wasn't as helpful since this wasn't a botched snap. I'll argue what the punter did was a heads up play for sure. Yeah, he probably should have just fell on it immediately but I can't fault him for attempting to do what he's supposed to do. The dude thought fast on his feet while shit hit the fan and didn't do all that much worse than the optimal decision.

I think Koo's career is done now. Kickers are notorious for being head cases and he committed one of the greatest sins imaginable. Not just for football, but for life in general. That being indecisive.
Sometimes it doesn't bite you in the ass, but other times it turns you into Charlie Brown. The hold did appear slightly wobbly, but why the hell would the thought 'I don't know if I should attempt to kick this ball' ever cross his mind? His confidence is laughably shot and we got to witness the ultimate moment of that in the form of an NFL kicker.

Giants kicker Younghoe Koo made one of the strangest plays of this NFL season when he kicked the turf in front of the football, not the ball itself, leaving holder Jamie Gillan with nothing to do but pick up the ball and run, which he did for a 13-yard loss.

Koo said after the game that he saw the ball moving on Gillan’s hold and thought he wasn’t going to be able to get a successful kick off, so he pulled up.

“I was approaching the ball and, cold weather, the ball kind of slipped out at the bottom so it was moving,” Koo said, via the New York Post. “I wasn’t able to kick through the ball. The ball was moving when I was driving to it, so I just pulled up on it.”

Koo said Gillan did the best he could but Koo had already pulled his kick by the time Gillan got the ball down.

“Jamie did a good job of catching it and putting it back,” Koo said, “but, at that point, it was too late.”

The Giants lost 33-15, and it’s not like that one botched field goal made the difference, but it was emblematic of what a bad night it was. The Giants’ special teams, and the team as a whole, have a lot of work to do.

I'm pretty sure he was injured for that last little stretch of games, so I'll give him a pass on that.

The only game where he was really forced to sling it was Michigan's loss to TCU and he looked pretty damn raw as a passer there. That should've been a red flag for GMs.

I believe that trended ended after either or shortly after the Tony Romo botch in the playoffs way back when. Romo replaced Drew Bledsoe for whatever reason, but he was still the holder for whatever reason, which ended up biting them in the ass in such a memorable, Dallas Cowboys fashion. My best guess is the the Dallas kicker wasn't comfortable with anyone else holding but Romo, but you'd figure the Cowboys would have gotten the idea 'Hey, maybe we should figure out our holder situation because this Tony Romo guy is kinda good and we're actually doing pretty well this year.' They did not. They did not get the idea.

Back to your point, I have to assume the switch was around that timeframe. Sure, a backup QB serving as the holder gives you a bit more flexibility as far as trick and/or botched snaps, but you also don't want to be put in an unfortunate situation. Where your backup QB is in the fame for whatever reason and the same guy who just led your team on a long drive down the field has to go kneel down, try to catch a long snap, and put on the ground quickly in a specific manner. Even if that's a fairly remote possibility, weird situations arise all the time.

It’s not necessarily about having the best record, but which current head coach consistently meets or exceeds expectations with the player talent at his disposal?

An argument could be made for Ben Johnson - rookie head coach and Caleb Williams. Vrabel is a solid pick though. McVay for comeback coach of the year.

the tl;dr is that Romo actually did get replaced by the punter but the punter kept fucking up so got tossed back in there and kept holding even after he became the starting QB

Most of the league had moved on by that point. The punter's practicing with special teams anyway so might as well have them hold. The chance of making anything out of a botched field goal attempt is so small it's not worth worrying about.

Brett's just doing some boomer rambling about football with some guy who I assume runs the channel who prompts him. I watched a video awhile back because it was supposed to be about Reggie White and it was very okay. He had a good story about going to a Popeyes with Reggie and people recognizing him but not Reggie. I like me some footbally boomer ramblings, but the other guy is a charisma vacuum and really isn't necessary. Farve with his phone could do better stuff if he just went off the cuff and made some short videos about his time in the NFL and/or his thoughts on the happenings this season.
