I don't get this move. It might make more sense once those draft picks come out but for now I am lost
Basically the Eagles gave a first and moved down 1 spot on another of their firsts this year in exchange for an additional first next year. Giving Roseman two first round picks in consecutive drafts.
That suggests he probably views this as a draft year with a smaller talent pool, so instead of going all-in with 3 picks this year he gets two picks each year, meaning he can afford to draft the best player available as well as Hurts' replacement should he not break out this season.
And the Saints get an extra first and move up a spot on their existing first this year.
They get to spread out the pay of these draft picks. Instead of having to slot in the pay of 3 1st round picks this year, they now get to slot 2 picks this year and 2 picks next year which will be better for their cap number.
