OCs have been pretty suspect this year.

Hmm yeah let's have a designed play where we pass to the TE over the middle for a six yard gain. Oh it was 3rd and 12?

Like, fuck, do they expect receivers to start teleporting or something?
If you don't like that, you probably won't like NFL offenses going forward. Because Shane Waldron has been feasting on 13 personnel plays doing exactly that.
Calling it on 3rd and 12 is probably suspect, but this season is going in such a fashion that I do worry heavy TE sets might be the meta for the next few years. It's too powerful a means to supplant an offensive line (in a league that's sorely lacking for OL talent, that's the biggest concern about expansion or the various spring leagues), and have downfield threats at the same time.

Teams will definitely try but it also seems to be a struggle finding decent TEs. I don't know if this is an evaluation problem or if the talent pool isn't that deep.

Cowboys put in linemen at FB every once in a while which I think is pretty interesting. Not exactly a receiving threat but if they can lead block to turn a 3 yd run into a 5 yd run that's really valuable against the cancer defense every team seems to be running this season.

Film review channels like this are probably uber-nerdy for a lot of people ITT, but I'm amazed that JT O'Sullivan is essentially bailing on trying to explain Russell Wilson's play this year. He's usually one of the dudes who will go out of his way to find silver linings for bad QBs. He's found positive things to say about Sam Darnold and Matt Ryan this year. Just a few weeks back he was praising aspects of Sam Ehlinger's game. But the preamble for his post-Carolina Wilson video is something I don't think I've ever seen him say about any QB:

"This is one of those videos, where there are many variables, but the big variable is the quarterback...the quarterback play itself, it is shockingly sloppy. The decision making is bizarre. There are some plays where you can't do anything but say 'What the hell is going on?' On some of these plays, there are no words to describe 'ok, here's how this can be done better'. If you do it like this, the way its done on this film, you're usually not doing it for long, and that's just the truth of it."

Fucking damning.

Belichik kinda started that shit with Gronk + Hernandez and they almost won a super bowl with it before Aaron decided he wanted to be a thug instead of a millionaire NFL player. I don't think they tried it since, probably because finding two tight ends in the same, or back-to-back drafts, with that level of talent is virtually impossible. Baltimore has done it with Lamar, but then they traded away his second option at TE. While Hayden didn't produce like Andrews did, he still provided Lamar another big body to throw to, and you can see how well that has been working for Baltimore since in trying to replace Hayden.

And good god, how the fuck does Lamar think he's worth 250 million when he's looking like a worse Steve McNair since getting that MVP. There's always something wrong with him, he's either sick or has something bothering him. I am wondering if he's lazing out of practices with his illnesses or his bum hip, or his sore ankle. Now he's actually hurt at the end of the season, just like last year and he will still go in to the off season believing he deserves more money than Mahomes.

And I hope GRo takes that Stanford job to put us out of our misery with his god awful offense. Why the fuck is Ricard still running routes, Harbaugh? Fucking ineptitude.

Looks like Brock Purdy, the final pick of the 2022 draft, will be leading the 49ers from here on out this season. Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be out for the rest of the season as he needs surgery on his broken left foot after taking an awkward hit in their win against the Dolphins.

Really bad luck with losing Trey Lance in Week 2 and now losing Jimmy G this late.

Good on Mr. Irrelevant 2022 for this win this week. Found this bit funny:

I asked Brock Purdy what his thoughts are that he’ll make his first start against Tom Brady: “It’s gonna be pretty cool… he’s been playing football longer than I’ve been alive.” In fact, Purdy was born 4 days before Brady played his final game at Michigan.

Fucking damning.
When I said the video I linked was Russel Wilson Slander, I didn't mean the legal definition of slander. I meant the youtube meme definition; it's 100% true and someone(or a group) feels personally attacked. This guy starts out shitting on the whole Bronco's offense, but quickly zeros in on Wilson.
It's just terrible football. It's horrific execution.
Yep. That sums things up nicely.

That or the old bat that is Virginia McCaskey has to die and have her estate sell the team
I've been saying something to that effect since 2010. I don't want to see anymore pictures of Red Grange holding an infant Virgina back in 19whogivesafuck on national tv. I want the old bag to fucking die and her idiot failsons do the right thing and sell the team. You're the third largest market in the US, fucking act like it!

Also Baker Mayfield has been released.

It always feels like, more so than with any other team, the Packers play up or down to the Bears level.

I still haven't made it out to see a game in Chicago, maybe I'll make the trip next season before whatever curse is on the field causes it to sink down to hell.

I've been a Bears fan since the early 00s and my only memorable event I witnessed at Soldier Field was a guy absolutely mollywhop his wife/gf in line for a bear on a New Years eve game.

I'd skip it but ymmv.

That was one of the unbelievable collapses I've ever seen out of a football team. The amount of shit the Saints had to do wrong to lose that game was unreal, but they somehow managed to do fucking all of it. Throwing the ball on a third and one instead of running it, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! If Gail Benson doesn't fire Dennis Allen, she doesn't deserve to be the Saints' owner anymore.

Makes you wonder how much of an asshole he really is.
Baker requested the release since he was 3rd on the depth chart but he was apparently well-liked in the Panthers locker room. After seeing Garoppolo go down with the 49ers having a shot to do something in the playoffs, it makes sense and it's where I think he ends up
