I genuinely do still feel bad for Trey Lance but considering everything we gave up for him it also still annoys me too.

But he was horribly unlucky and never had a real chance. The 49er's did the thing you should do with a QB like that, not immediately throw him into the fire, give him time behind Jimmy G., time to learn, maybe play some preseason games or play some snaps in games that are already over, etc. And then his second game as starter, in a season where the 49er's were fully behind him and willing for him to be our franchise QB, he suffers a season-ending injury and Jimmy G. has a great mid-season and then Brock Purdy comes out of nowhere to not just go on a win-streak but to completely electrify the fanbase and click really well with the rest of the team. So Lance was really unlucky that not only he got injured but his replacement proved himself more than ready to take his spot and be the starter.

Of course even when Lance was given chances to prove himself he was never more than mediocre. So whatever. It's definitely going to go down as one of our all-time draft busts.

If it wasnt for Brock Purdy I think most of the Faithful would calling for Shanahan's head right about now.
 
I'm gonna laugh if Allen is on one tonight and throws more picks than Danny Dimes. The primetime schedule has been dogshit this season and last. I assume they switched to some new AI. This is why you need a team of people with football IQ. Noone with football knowledge would have ever been tricked into thinking Jones was the guy. Computers just know stats, beep boop. Bradon Staley is what we would get if a team was coached by AI.
 
I can’t ever fully get on the Allen hype train because of his incessant need to turn the ball over randomly.

That, any his play style is an injury waiting to happen.

Doesn’t mean that I don’t love the guy though. Any QB that pushes the pile and throws blocks like him is A-OK in my book.

I also think we have so many primetime games now, you can't have a good game for every one. Before it was just Sunday and Monday nights, and they were usually good or at least watchable. If not, oh well. It was just one game. Thurdays games were only after thanksgiving and were awful because they would put the Jags-Titans games on there because it was a "rivalry".

Alot of Jones hate comes from people who don't watch the game. There isn't a QB who would succeed with the 32nd ranked oline, below average WRs and below average running game. He has the most pressures under 2 seconds and is getting pressure on almost 50% of his drop backs. It's a recipe for disaster for any QB.

Jones is out tonight from all the hits he's been taking. Tyrod isn't going to survive the game.
 
NFLPA decided they really liked the shortened COVID practice schedule and gave up a major concession (fines for players who sit out) to make it permanent.

OL play has dramatically dropped off with less padded practices. You gotta wonder if the NFL is going to step in here.

This is not the only season he has looked lackluster. I'm honestly not a huge hater. There is a lot wrong with the Giants this season. I think he can be a servicable qb, but he is not a a guy who carries his team. I just want exciting matchups on primetime.
 
SF took an L off of a missed field goal from 37.
 
Geno wasn't getting the ball out for some reason, our entire O-line is injured, and DK has the pacifier mouth guard because he's a fucking baby.
Also the Bengals defense is honestly the better half of that team than their offense. Burrow is great and their WR room is stacked but they couldn't get shit done in this game.
 
Well it's best to get losses like this out of the way early. And hopefully the injuries don't end up being major.

Was it raining during the game ? Commentators were talking about the ball being slippery, I think

A really nice drive right at the end by Purdy to get them into effectively a gimme of a FG…only to have the idiot kicker get the yips at the worst possible time.

Agree that the NFL is all about peaking at the right time, so better to get close losses and injuries (non season-ending / chronic ones) out of the way early.
 
Yet again, it looks like someone died on the field of a Bills game.
 
The ending of this game seems to encapsulate the issue with Josh Allen: consistency.

He'll make some of these crazy "off-platform" throws that the "analysts" love so much but he'll miss basic throws on the rollout that your neighborhood High School's starting QB should be able to complete.

For some reason, it reminds me of Novak Djokovic and his tendency to miss smashes but make impossible passing shots from the tightest angles.

You're just always waiting for the other shoe to drop with Allen in games.
