The Bucs took away his running lanes in the Super Bowl and made him look like Curtis Painter.
When he did scramble, Mahomes averaged 9 yards per carry. The Bucs had great success pressuring him without blitzing. 29 pressures(a super bowl record) with only 6 blitzs.
They also utterly battered him because at that point wet tissue paper would honestly have been more effective than the Chiefs offensive line
Mahomes still threw for 270 yards despite have no time. 2 interceptions 20 something incompletions definitely mar that stat a bit.
Not sure if it's been posted here, apparently this is going on. It seems autistic to get butthurt about, but teams have bitched about worse.
Is the grass going to become the go-to excuse for loosing a super bowl to the Chiefs?

So basically if nobody gets in his way and just stands around while he takes his sweet time then he's unstoppable? Interesting.

NFL Honors, 2023:
MVP: Lamar Jackson (Baltimore)
DPOY: Myles Garrett (Cleveland)
OPOY: Christian McCaffrey (San Francisco)
DROY: Will Anderson (Houston)
OROY: CJ Stroud (Houston)
CPOY: Joe Flacco (Cleveland)
COTY: Kevin Stefanski (Cleveland)
Ass. COTY: Jim Schwartz (Cleveland)

The AP has a bit of a Cleveland boner this year, most of it deserved. Very glad they didn't make an utter joke of Comeback Player of the Year by giving it to a 3rd string safety who barely played this season, it would reduce the trophy to the ultimate case of "this guy survived a gruesome injury".

Tom Grossi takes the NFL Honor for Fan of the Year. He may be a Packers fan with a faggy voice and a kikey nose, but the dude does some real cool shit. The 30 Stadiums in 30 Days to raise money for St Jude's is commendable. Despite my hatred of everything Green Bay, he has some entertaining bits (fan/team reactions) and intriguing storylines (his NFC/AFC North house saga was very fun). Congrats to the guy, he definitely has earned it.

I generally don't have issues with this other than MVP. I truly think that Christian McCaffrey should have been the MVP this year, all things considered.

So, we’re all cheering for a meteor to hit the stadium, right? Otherwise it’s just a game with two QB’s that’re just a deconstructed Tom Brady - we’ve got Patty Mahomes trying to lay claim to being the GOAT, and we have Brock Purdy who was picked super late and has exceeded all expectations, combine them and you have Tom Brady - that’s going to focus more on Taylor Swift than the actual game, played by two teams I’m sure we’re all getting sick of seeing.

I'll settle for Tay-tay's jet to fall into the Pacific as she flies directly to Lost Wages from a concert in Japan. (In Minecraft, of course.)

Beyond that, I just ... don't care. Don't like either team, don't really hate either team, though KC is starting to get a mite annoying. I can't remember the last time I was this apathetic about the Stupor Bowl. Nowadays, the commercials even suck. I'm old, so I don't even know who the half time musical acts are to hate on them, either. If there's any movie trailers dropping during the game, meh, I can't think of any movies I have the urge to see.

Edit: Even silly shit like this seems beyond the geniuses puking out ads these days.

You're all going to hate me for this but I believe the Chiefs will win. This Super Bowl for me feels similar when the Rams won in 2022. The media made a huge deal out of the Rams and ignored the Bengals. I remember being chewed out because i chose the Rams when seeing how different news networks fawned over their stadium.

The same thing is happening with the Chiefs. You have them plastered everywhere. It doesn't hurt Taylor Swift is in the mix too. And barely any talk of the 49rns, like Bengals. Unless there's an upset this Sunday, I bet we're going to see Travis Kelce get on his knees after the game and propose to Taylor Swift. The media will lose their minds. Dear God have mercy on us.

It seems that these days people value Tight Ends much more for their value as a receiver rather than what a Tight End is actually supposed to be.

To me personally, I won't even consider a Tight End to be in the Pantheon of the greats unless he was true difference maker as a receiver and a blocker.

Gronk is far and away the greatest Tight End to ever do it. He's quite possibly the most devastating blocker at the position that we've ever seen. Add to that the fact that he also handily leads every Tight End in history with his Yards per Catch stats at 15 per reception.

For all of Kelce's stats as a receiver, Gronk still has a healthy lead on him in Touchdowns with 92. The gap in their YPC (currently 15 vs. 12.5) will only increase now that Kelce appears to be slowing down. In fact, I personally doubt that he'll be able to exceed 92 TDs when he hangs up his boots.

Idiots always talk about Gronk being too injured all of the time, but when you're a true all round Tight End, you're going to get hurt a lot because you're involved in every single phase of the offensive game plan.

Didn't stop him from winning 4 Super Bowls either. Or having the aforementioned stats.

Cleveland boner is definitely deserved, but DPOY going to Garrett, from a stat perspective, is pretty bad. TJ Watt outperformed him all season. TJ Watt had 48 tackles to Myles' 33, 19 sacks to 14, and 3 fumble recoveries to 1. He also outperformed in QB hits, TFLs, and combined tackles. Myles is definitely a beast of a player and a true genetic freak, but I don't know about this one. I'm happy, but that is a pretty big snub.

Glad to see Stroud get his flowers along with Anderson. McCaffrey getting OPOY over Tyreek Hill wasn't too surprising, but definitely another toss up category.

It's hard to consider Kelce the GOAT tight end when the rules have been so neutered from even a decade ago. Ofc I'm a fan of the recieving TEs (Gates being one of my all time favorite Chargers, wasn't alive to watch Kellen Winslow Sr play), but like you said, you at least need to have some blocking ability.

Based on what you’ve written, Watt definitely had a greater year.

The other thing to consider is that giving Watt the award would make it 5 to 3 of Whites getting awards over shitstains.

In current year, a 50/50 split is the best that we can hope for I guess.

At least Heart Attack Hamlin didn't get CPOY over Elite White Dragon Joseph Vincent Flacco.

The Patriots have not been shy about revamping their coaching staff now that Belichek is gone, and they are willing to spend money to bring in talent.

They have also picked up Dont'a Hightower to that list as linebacker coach. Now let's bring Edelman back as WR coach too.

I could never get into Tom Grossi. He just looks like that type of dude that would be cool with his wife getting the pipe laid to her by Jamaal while he's watching the Packers game in the next room.

Gronkowski as TE coach would be an elite match with Edelman as WR coach. They've also got the 3rd most cap space in the league with $69.8 million to spend, so I would definitely look at New England to make some moves in free agency, though it might be a tough sell with their QB issues. Obviously they're in true rebuild mode so we can enjoy a few more seasons with Poverty Patriots.

Everyone forgets the Bavaros and Shockeys.
