it's okay detroyt. these games don't count right. we lul them into a false sense of superiority in the pre-season and then march our way to the super bowl (pleasepleaseplease not another season of disappointment i just want one good thing for the city)
Last season wasn’t a disappointment though. If you measure every season by “did they lose in the playoffs” you have a very high chance of walking away from the season disappointed. Last year we got the best record in Lions history. Also, it was just a damn fun season watching that offense. It sucks the defense was so banged up though. When Alim McNeill went down that’s when I knew things were gonna be tough in the post season.

I’ve always thought about it like this: if everything was fair and balanced, and we gave a Super Bowl win each year to a new team, that would take 32 years. Things just don’t work like that. You ever wonder why all these great teams of the 2000s never got a ring? They happened to exist at the same time as Brady. Similar thing is happening right now except it feels like there are 3 Brady’s in the league.

I hear Kyle Allen is starting over Hooker. I had dismissed most of the Hooker hate as typical off-season gossip but maybe they were onto something. Idk we'll see after tonight.

Edit: oh, and I have one question...

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!?!?!!
Til I see a flag for a hard hit then I remember modern day life is gay in every way

Yeah it’s me being a bit too critical. It is always good just to see solid play and that’s something they pulled off last year. I guess for me the disappointment was knowing it wasn’t their peak playing at the end due to injuries. Nothing to be done about it. You can’t blame them and those injuries show they were really fighting for it.

Ahhh man, Falcons fans are in the battle for the most tortured fanbase. I remember at my Super Bowl party that year people were leaving at half time. I thought Mr. Ice for sure was about to pull one out. I think the entire nation was behind you guys, except for maybe Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire lmfao. To cheer yourself up you should watch that Falcons Bears 2008 playoff game. I know I go back to that one from time to time when I’m in a particular mood.

It’s completely understandable. It is frustrating, especially since I haven’t felt like this ever as a Lions fan. Closest was that stretch from about 2011 to 2015, even though I was young, I never really believed that any of those teams could actually make a Super Bowl. Now is certainly a lot different, it’s like a switch was flipped in that Green Bay game at the end of the ‘22 season. That’s the first time I thought “this could realistically win a Super Bowl.”. Last year certainly was very, very close, I just had such an uneasy feeling the whole season. I really hope the defense comes back stronger than ever, but some regression is to be expected. I think 10 wins is realistic, ceiling maybe around 12. NFC North has felt like a nuclear arms race for the past couple years.

Micah Parsons requested a trade out of Dallas. Jerry bros...

The fact its gotten this far means Jerry Jones is in terrible health. Not a chance this happens unless Jerry is bedbound in a hospital
Michael Parson isn't leaving. This is Mulugheta stirring shit because Jerreh said he didn't know his name.

ESPN to acquire NFL RedZone, NFL Media assets in billion-dollar agreement: Report
ESPN and the NFL have benefited from each other in different ways for decades. That relationship is reportedly entering a new chapter.

ESPN is set to acquire NFL RedZone and other top NFL Media holdings, according to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, who also reported Friday that, in return, the league will receive as much as 10% equity in ESPN that's potentially worth billions of dollars.

An official announcement about the deal is expected next week, per The Athletic, which pointed out that Disney, ESPN's parent company, has its earnings call this coming Wednesday.

Although the deal will require regulatory approval that typically takes 9-12 months, according to The Athletic, it could be part of a 2026-27 year that culminates in ESPN's first Super Bowl broadcast.

In addition to RedZone, ESPN is expected to bring aboard seven more regular-season games, NFL Network and the NFL's fantasy football business, among other assets, The Athletic reported.

NFL Network started in 2003 and is home to popular shows such as "Good Morning Football," "NFL GameDay Kickoff" and "The Insiders." But NFL Network has experienced repeated cutbacks, per The Athletic, and its programming is in line for investment from ESPN.

explain what ESPN's reported acquisition of NFL Network might look like, Marchand referenced how ESPN supplements its main-channel coverage of college football with SEC Network. Similar to how SEC Network personalities are used on ESPN, Marchand theorizes that NFL Network personalities could show up across brands as well.

It's worth noting that former "Good Morning Football" host Peter Schrager has already made the transition to ESPN. He left NFL Network this spring when he joined ESPN, where he previously worked as a writer earlier in his career. Now he appears on top ESPN programs like "Get Up," "First Take" and "The Pat McAfee Show."

As for RedZone, the fan-favorite Sunday program might just be the linchpin of the ESPN-NFL deal, as it could be packaged with ESPN's current channels in future carriage negotiations, according to The Athletic. RedZone, famously hosted by Scott Hanson, flips from game to game across the league — sometimes showing two, four or even eight games at once — where teams are nearing scoring opportunities.

Friday's news arrives just as ESPN prepares to roll out its direct-to-consumer service, which will cost $29.99 per month and allow subscribers to watch all ESPN programming and game broadcasts without cable or satellite providers. People who already have access to ESPN can still watch its channels traditionally, but they, too, will have access through the network's new app, per The Athletic.

Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

I saw a kid in a Donovan McNabb jersey yesterday, and I had to chuckle because I'm pretty sure I was that kid's age when McNabb was drafted.

And that bum is the reason Andy Reid didn't win a Superb Owl in Philadelphia.

That bum is also involved with 4th and 26 and I hate him.

I see kids in Alstott jerseys every once in a while. They were everywhere in the late 90s so I assume they're hand-me-downs from dad.

It's funny cause the most popular Bucs jerseys during the time were Alstott/Sapp/Brooks/Barber. Real fuckin ground and pound football right there.
