I thought we figured this out his rookie year?
Allen sucked ass his rookie year too. The problem is that Allen started to get better and Richardson started getting worse.

I've never seen a QB fix their mechanics once they hit the NFL even if they try as hard as they can. It's too deep in muscle memory at that point.

AR has no touch and his point of release is too high. Unless you want to go dig for WRs in the NBA draft it's just not working out.

Don't mind me, I'm just here to laugh at the Colts front office when Arch Manning doesn't declare for the 2026 draft

It's just gonna come down to who picks #1.

Saints, Jets, Browns are all going to be terrible this season, but if somehow the Falcons manage to be worse than them all...well the Rams own their pick and he'd just jump in with zero hesitation.

Yeah most rookie QBs suck their first year but you can usually see flashes of what makes them great. There was nothing he had that gave you hope about him. He just got more chances because of how high he was picked

Really though, I'm with @Drama Fan in that attempting to separate the two is fruitless, they accomplished something together never before seen in the league, taking up the majority of both of their careers, and nitpicking who was really behind it is just looking a gift horse in the mouth.
After Brady departed, the Patriots under BB's tutelage made the playoffs only once - as a wildcard team that was promptly destroyed by the Bills 47-17.

People like to shit on BB with "Well, he sucked without Tom and Tom won a Superbowl in Tampa", but I doubt Tom is a quarter of the player he is without BB.
Belichick wasn't an offencive mastermind. He wasn't even an offencive coach...he always left that to other coaches.

The fact is that Brady went to a new team with a roster that he had never played with besides a couple of people AND he played for a new coach and GM. Brady won the Super Bowl in his FIRST SEASON THERE. Meanwhile, the Patriots under Belichick went NOWHERE. Where was BB's supposedly superior drafting ability? Nada.

He would have had the same smothering defense, but with Drew Bledsoe as QB.
Wrong. Brady's consistent excellence took a LOT of pressure off of the Pats' defence and allowed it to be more aggressive than it would've been without that superior QB on offense.

Opposing offences were always uncomfortable against the Pats because they knew they had to score enough points to stave off a vaunted Brady blitzkrieg. Even when teams had second-half leads against the Pats, they were always aware that a Brady comeback was in the offing. This made opposing offences PREDICTABLE and often rash with their decision making. That allowed the Pats' defence to accrue statistics it otherwise would not have earned if not for King Brady helming the ship on offense.

2001 6th rank defense.
2003 1st rank defense.
2004 2nd rank defense.
2014 8th rank defense.
2016 1st rank defense.
2018 7th rank defense.
Those stats were earned during Brady's tenure.

I feel like we could have the same argument about Reid and Mahomes as y'all are having with Brady vs BB. Reid never won sh*t until Pat showed up.
That's an excellent point and it highlights yet another fat overrated coach.

I disagree, dude was a walking highlight reel. It was his everyday moments that made you think why the hell are they starting this guy.

Very similar to Vick actually.
