I imagine the McCaskeys are going to go for the worst of both worlds, and have an unretractable dome while still "maintaining" the grass field. At least they're not using a shitton of local money (by handsomely paying whoever does the construction and development that the suburbs want).

Sad to see northern teams deny me snow games to host some faggots who don't watch football at a super bowl.
A Superb Owl in Chicago in February is going to be terrible. There is so much else happening because of the game getting around in the winter slop is going to be awful. No one wants to be there if you can't walk around without six additional layers, and being that far out in the burbs means nothing close like hotels and restaurants. It's almost 25 miles on Metra to get to The Loop from the proposed site.

Huh, the last I heard Arlington Heights was off of the table, so I'm pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

A fixed roof stadium is 100% bitch move, though. "MUH COLD WINTERS" -- toughen up, buttercup.

It is funny, I was wondering last night while watching the game why haven't the Bears tried getting in on the trend of getting a new stadium given how old Soldier Field is. It turns out I had no idea they were already working on it.

Personally, I don't see the big deal with having a dome. I know people enjoy snow games, but personally I don't want to watch any sporting event where it is super cold outside. It is a smarter investment in the long term.

Football is meant to be played in the elements. I'm relatively fine with teams in the South or California playing in domes, but they are FAGS if they are north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

I personally just don't see it as that big of an issue. I understand that great games have only happened thanks to the elements being a factor, but I personally just don't want to be outside watching a football game in the snow. I've been to an open stadium and enjoyed it because it was a nice sunny day out. If it was raining or snowing I wouldn't have had much fun.

I understand both sides of it: open stadiums and a view of the city can make for a beautiful experience. I can also see why teams don't want the weather to be able to impact what they are trying to do.

I mean it's the Bears. They only have to worry about November and December.
I’m gonna laugh if the Bears - by some fucking miracle - manage to get to the Playoffs now that Virginia McCasky is dead and buried.

It’s not going to happen, but it’s be hilarious so I’d be down to see a Wildcard Blowout by a real team…

Tickets to games in FL are pretty cheap, everyone just deals with the heat and humidity and rain.

If I'm gonna pay $500 for a ticket I better have a dome and a naked geisha to eat sushi off of though.

My personal opinions on winters (note that i am not talking about stadiums with or with domestic or the sport of football but general experience) after experiencing both type in my life? It so much much worse where humidity is high frequently, only shit i remember the cold going through layers way more easily

Pack it up guys, someone figured it out:

the entire nfl ecosystem is one giant machine to blow smoke up people's asses to give a really fake and gay kayfabe the illusion of importance. football is an incredibly simple game with very little in the way of tactics or actual skill involved because the victory conditions are secured through metagaming. I'm not even being facetious here becasuse im a nerd, the strategy involved in NFL Gridiron football is "make sure they can't catch the ball so you can run the timer down" it's not like soccer or hockey or baseball or basically any other sports game where there is a Situation and you have a limited amount of resources (players) to deal with the Situation - with gridiron football the winning strat is legitimately to just stop the game from being played
