I had a thought today; it's strange that there's not really a surprise good team this year.

No one expected the Steelers to start 11-0, but they really didn't win most games by more than 1 possession.
GB, NO being good is not surprising.
Buffalo was expected to challenge for the division. NFC East was supposed to suck (and they sure have).
Indy and Tennessee fighting it out for the AFC South isn't too shocking.

Maybe the Browns are the most surprise team?

I'd say it's the Dolphins. I didn't think they'd be horrible or anything, but I didn't think they'd be 8-4 right now.

But the Browns aren't surprising. They're a team laden with talent on both sides of the ball. Their year last year was more surprising than how they're doing this year. Had they kept Gregg Williams at head coach last year instead of hiring the yes man without a backbone they probably have a good year last year instead of the disappointing mess they had. I know GW shit the bed this year as Jets DC, but anyone who saw how he turned that woeful Browns franchise around in half a season could see he probably should have been the HC there.

The Dolphins were atrocious last year, started shedding talent for picks, and they've appeared to build themselves a pretty good culture that should have probably started gelling next year. Instead, they they started putting the pieces together towards the end of the year last year, and it's all come together. I am hoping this isn't a one year wonder because I would love for Belichik to have to work for a playoff spot again for the first time since.. when? Rex Ryan and the Jets?
 
My surprise teams for this year come from the worst division in football. I did not expect Joe Judge to appear to competent and make the Giants competitive and I thought that McCarthy would've turned the Cowboys into winners (I bought into the initial hype). I also am partially shocked that Houston shit the bed but that's something which a lot of people saw coming after their fantastic moves in the off-season.
 
I don't know if anyone cares about this Rams-Pats game but some of you will probably appreciate to know that the Pats are making clowns of themselves. Down 10, they got a pick-six only to have it walked back due to a penalty. Rams scored and Pats got the ball back and got the ball all the way down on the 2 yard line, but couldn't seal the deal and turned over on downs. 0-17 with five minutes left in the half. How the mighty have fallen.

That was some hilarious shit. They didn't get the pick 6, but it was still ruled as an interception. Cam Newton then proceeds to throw a pick 6 on the very next play. You can't make this shit up. :story:

It was so bad, and I really wanted them to beat the Rams so they're relegated to the wild card round. The eternal optimist in me hopes that the Pats can re-sign Cam (not that the offseason's free market is going to be even remotely friendly to him after this season lol) just to see what they can do with a proper season instead of this COVID-plagued nonsense.
 
Lots of interesting matchups today. Colts vs Raiders and Steelers vs Bills should be pretty good games.

Also with the state of the Seahawks at the moment, I can't confidently say they will beat the Jets. :story:
 
What the fuck is going on with Brady? The play-calling isn't even an excuse this time, he's missing throws to wide open receivers in this shitty Vikings defense.
