The Official Pizza Thread - Discuss all pizza here

I had Papa John's recently. It tastes like it's 1998. It's the exact same taste. It's the exact same texture. Everything is exactly the same.

It's possible the cheese is different, but I don't think that determines much for the taste as mozzarella is pretty flavor neutral.

Papa John himself claimed it wasn't the same pizza. I feel like it's the same gas lighting that people give me when they say McDonald's hamburgers used to taste wildly different.

I'm going to have to try it again and eat it fresh too, not 20 minutes after its been sitting in the box. I'll report back when I finally do. Be it this month or October. Or 2027.

Make sure do dip the crust in their nuclear garlic sludge. That's something that especially hasn't changed.

A classic cheese or pepperoni and sausage with chopped pickled pepper and dipped crust holds up very well, in my opinion.

I tried the cheesesticks because of fish tank (it's been a whole storyline, if you know you know) and it ruins my digestive system for two days. So I have no idea what's going on with that. But that's a new item, not something they had long ago.

Pineapple with ham on pizza is delicious and anyone who disagrees is entitled to their opinion. I simply disagree with it.

I never knew Detroit had a style. What’s the angle?
From what I know of it, it was originally made in a pan that was a metal box for tools.

So it's a square pizza. It has a thick crust. The cheese goes to the edge and gets crispy at the sides. They also have sauce on top.

I haven't had it myself but a local chain has it right now and I really want to try it.

Sorry for rating your post dumb by the way, that was my mistake.

Its a thicker pizza dough with a really nice toasted bottom. Sort've fried in a big steel pan, makes for a moderately chewy and cheesy bread, usually with a spicy sauce to either pour over after or to dip it into. Sometimes a spicy vodka sauce.

Its heavy as hell but its really good. One I had also had some hot honey drizzled over.

Yeah I wouldn't mind some of that.

Usually put a even thin layer of Olive Oil all over the spread dough ( 18 cl +- with that size), that pizza end ups crispier&tastier without the excessive grease floating in between the condiments.

Over the years (Pizzahut) cheesesticks and Panned Pizza felt like I needed gradually less before feeling satiated with the same amount. Maybe it's some cheap substitute you might have to avoid all together.

I made a kimchi and bacon pizza the other day. Can definitely recommend that combo. Old funky home made kimchi and thick chunks of bacon. Amazing.

I think it was actually a steel tray that mechanics used for oil changes.
I've made Detroit Pizza this way and it turned out very good. The crispy cheese around the edges is great.

I had this “viral pizza” from Domino’s last weekend. Extra garlic parm sauce, cheddar, Philly Steak and Bacon. It was fine but destroyed my insides the next morning.

I really like the half-tuck kebab pizza, it's like a semi-calzone.

No one has ever figured out how to properly eat it without making a huge mess.
Thats a pizza boat.

I hated the school pizza we got in middle school.

One of my favorite pizzas right now is the Popeye pizza.

Veggie pizza can be really good if made right.

That's the thing with pineapple on pizza, it needs some salty meat to balance out the the fruity tang. I'm a bacon and pineapple enjoyer myself, but I definitly won't turn down some ham thrown on there.
It also can't be that crap from a can that just makes the pizza soggy and nasty. Has to be fresh pineapple, preferably roasted and caramelized.
