The Official Simpsons Griefing Thread

The thing I keep hearing from new Simpsons fans is the line "No no the Simpsons is actually really good now! It was bad for years but some the seasons that just came out are great!" and then you go watch them and it's an episode about Bart learning about how diversity is our strength and Marge sounds like she is in stage 4 throat cancer.
Says a lot we can't deal with noobs at our ages.

Remember a time when Bart was the edgy cool kid? Kiwi Farms remembers.

"Don't have a cow, man!"

wtf Waltons don’t pay their fair share of taxes. The Simpsons were a fictionalized middle class family that owned a home and 2 cars. Homer was the sole breadwinner of the family in a secure unionized job at a nuclear power plant that he was not really competent at but showed up to work everyday for. I call that the American Dream.😂

They responded to this 3 days later in the opening of a rerun of Stark Raving Dad:

The backlash from the Family Guy episode in question did have some blowback as Seth had zero choice but to go all in on Brian being a monster so vile even Quagmire can't stand him.
I'm not that well versed in Family guy's chronology, but was this after or before the entire cast became irredimable psychopaths?

I mean, as bad as jerkass Homer was (is?), the flanderization of a series that goes for so long is somewhat understandable, the term does come from the Simpsons after all, so jerkass Homer and insufferable Lisa are somewhat understandable given the long running time.

But Family Guy is different, the whole show is just mean spirited as fuck. And not in a really controvertial, shock jock way, or trying to have some sort of commentary, the show and it's characters just seem to hate each other and are horrible people.

And I heard that is the "voice" the show found, since it was never any good at being a family sitcom like Bob's Burger or King of the Hill, Family Guy always sucked so the show runners said "fuck it, we ain't gonna win any hearts or Emmys here, might as well just be assholes", and it ain't like McFarlane gives a shit, as long the checks keep being on time.

Still, I don't think the decision to make Family Guy's character vile pieces of shit is due public rejection, because at one point the show was way more popular than the Simpsons. Sure, it was always taken a sloppy knock-off that relied too much on cut-aways gags to get some laughs, but it had it's fans.

So what the fuck happened? Whenever I see a new family guy episode, it is just fucking bitterness made cartoon, Peter is a irredeemable monster that is hard to stomach for 5 minutes let alone a full episode, and it isn't like this is some commentary on how horrible it would be to deal with a cartoon dad like the Simpsons did with Frank Grimes, no, the Griffin Family just hate each other, and the show just hates.

After. And to be frank (since it's clear you weren't around Family Guy fandom at the time), you missed how McFarlane utterly scorched earth Brian to the point of irrevocable ruin, especially given that both the Hurricane episode AND the previous episode (the episode where Brian destroys Meg's faith in God after getting outed as an atheist) were written NOT as "Ha Ha! Flanderization!" but Seth LEGIT using Brian as his mouthpiee and being writen 100% "in the right" in Seth's eyes.

Seth and the writers legit thought that they were "course correcting" Brian with him not once but TWICE forcibly making Meg submit to family abuse simply because of a mix of "status quo is king" and "Brian legit would rather subject Meg to hell without escape or salvation rather than suffer a single drop of inconveinance"; which made the Hurricane episode all the more the straw that broke the camel's back in irrevocably ruining Brian and forcing Seth to admit defeat and have Brian go full villain after years of frantically presenting him, even post-flanderization.

The Flanders family turning from very kind and generous Christian people that were shown to be what the Simpsons wish they were in earlier seasons to religious zealots who think dice are an invention of Satan is so retarded. Just such a ridiclous direction to take these characters. It's really not even that funny either the jokes are just low hanging fruit shots at creationists and Christian fundamentalists.
