The Official Simpsons Griefing Thread

I used to watch The Simpsons, but I stopped after the movie came out.

Nowadays I prefer Futurama.
I understand that one of the reasons The Simpsons got shit was because many of its best writers moved to Futurama. I think it shows - the early Futurama definitely has that classic Simpsons feel.

So are Homer and Marge still divorced?

Or was it reconcile #319471037269 with the usual, scratchy-voiced Marge going "Oh Homie, I am so sorry! Its just been 27 years and the kids just won't grow up! I am just sick of paying school bills!"

When I saw Homer make out with some sort of chocolate mannequin, I thought that that was the real rock bottom.

All the quality episodes, ones that didn't rely on Homer's stupidity, are on Season 8 and Below.

I answered earlier in the thread. It was all a dream.

At least I can pretend there's a chance -- even though there's not -- Sofia Vergara will be Bart's permanent teacher and affect the character in some way. If only because Mrs. Krabapple's actress died of natural causes in her 70s and their hand's been forced.

I heard relatively earlier that a character was coming out to be gay. Have they revealed who yet? Even by spoilers?

Honestly, they did that shit already. It's like I'm experiencing deja vu with this show constantly. Have they tried to shoot Mr. Burns again?

Did Marvin Monroe make another absolutely random appearance despite being killed off?

Wait, was it true that Harry Shearer is no longer with them?

Smithers isn't it? (No surprise there then!)

Harry Shearer is still about, he just has a tantrum about the show every now and then.

It's already been revealed in an interview with Al Jean. He's the showrunner, and unlike South Park, the Simpsons is produced months in advance of the air date, so it won't be changed.

If you can't already guess who it is, you probably just emerged from a thirty year state of suspended animation.

See with me, I feel that while they're cute every now and again. In a series like this, one that's been beyond shit for over a decade at this point. It just makes you want to watch the episode(s) the new one is making a reference to.
Looking back at it, that "divorce episode" was mostly nostalgia fanservice and didn't make us give a damn about the characters or the conflict because they barely invested in it.

I look forward to the inevitable bump on the head that causes Burns to get amnesia at the end of the episode, thus ensuring that nothing ever changes.

Honestly, I still enjoyed The Simpsons into the mid-2000's. Maybe it's because I was younger when they came out, but I think that the quality really dropped in about 2006. A lot of people will say that the decline happened years before, but I don't agree with that. Sure, it became different, but not necessarily worse. 2006 marked the point where they just stopped trying altogether. That being said, I still thought the movie was good.

This may be the only cartoon that got harder to look at the better the animation got
I miss the wild, unrestrained quality of the first season myself. The animation didn't get better, it just got too constrained to a set structure.
