The finale would literally be the worst shit and most uneventful shit you can think of. There won't be a big send off, it'll probably be like any other terrible episode over the past 20 years of terrible episodes, with some emotional pornography in the final minute for those feels.

The Simpsons is unrealistic now. They have a big-ass house, 3 story, 3 bed, 2.5 bath, and Homer makes 60k a year. Nowadays, they'd be living in an apartment. 1 story, 2 bed, 2 or even 1 bath. They are lower-middle class now. Frank Grimes was right. With such stupidity and being at a middling income job, how does Homer even have all the great shit that he gets?
Springfield dodges this bullet by being in every region of every state at once, including the ones with very low cost of living and property values.

Why don't they just have an entire farewell season?

A whole season of alternate series finales. A different writer for each one. Maybe guest directors. Maybe have fans vote on things. They could really make a huge deal of it.

They've definitely got the money and 30+ years of show to justify it.

Considering the fans that still religiously stick around we could get some really weird shit.

Disney will make the Simpsons go on as long as possible because they don't want the perceived bad press of being the company that killed the Simpsons after over thirty years. The show will only end when one of the main cast members bites the dust.

But most people want the Simpsons gone.

I remember everyone I know having Bart vs the Space Mutants for NES and Virtual Bart on SNES. Just those two for whatever reason.

I don't remember anyone ever really enjoying them, but the cool kids had them and they got played a lot, probably just because of the novelty of playing the Simpsons.
